Heritage Christian Services Training and Organizational Development Specialist II in Amherst, New York

Overview

The Training and Organizational Specialist, under the direct guidance of the Associate Director of Eleversity, is a subject matter expert, supporting the design and delivery of dynamic and high impact, comprehensive, competency-based supported employment trainings across NYS. Innovations in Employment Supports classes are provided by trainers who have extensive experience with the Office of People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) vocational services and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD). Ideal candidates would be from Rochester, Buffalo or Syracuse, NY.

Pay starts for this position at: $58450.40

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above range represents the organization's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting

Responsibilities

  • Conduct scholarly and practical research on best practices in supported employment, employment for people with ID/DD, workforce development and vocational rehabilitation.

  • Develop and design competency-based curricula and technical assistance materials as prescribed by funder, using prescribed training format, design, and templates.

  • Create multi-modal learning activities to support higher learning and knowledge acquisition for Employment Support Professionals in the instruction of the skills needed to improve the quality of vocational and employment services

  • Provides general supervision to other members of the team.

  • Maintain communication with key stakeholders and project partner liaisons for the purpose of partnership building, program marketing outreach, materials review, and revisions.

  • Provide statewide (NYS) training sessions in person and virtually using Zoom platform.

  • Support learners on using remote medium; proficient in the use of virtual facilitation tools (e.g., Zoom)

  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills needed to facilitate trainings, write content, and engage with learners/end users.

  • Present and facilitate training events which apply adult learning concepts, effectively engage participants of varying learning needs and foster learning and implementation of best practice in the field.

  • Perform with self-disciplined independence in an environment of ongoing accountability.

  • Work with Eleversity Director, Associate Director, and funding partners to interpret session evaluation data and implement changes in materials or training provision accordingly.

  • Schedule monthly training classes from availability calendar

  • Provide technical assistance and support to supported employment providers.

  • Stay abreast of Administrative Directive Memorandum (ADM), regulations, and laws impacting employment services for people receiving OPWDD vocational services.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree preferred, Bachelor’s Degree required with demonstrated experience in Supported Employment and Training Delivery

  • Demonstrated involvement providing Supported Employment services (3-5 years) for individuals with ID/DD.

  • Demonstrated involvement with local/regional and/or statewide Supported Employment stakeholder groups or consortiums

  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds and demonstrates skill understanding cultural differences

  • Demonstrated curricula development skills with proficiency in PowerPoint

  • Demonstrated training delivery skills (evaluation samples and training audition required)

  • Ability to travel within New York state (may include overnight travel), and make related travel arrangements

  • Ability to deliver engaging trainings in a virtual environment

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Sustain a concentrated work effort of up to eight hours per day, 5 days per week

  • Lift boxes of training materials (10-30 lbs.)

  • Have a valid NYS driver’s license that meets Agency standards

  • Have the ability to be away from home for multiple days to provide training sessions, technical assistance or attend project meetings

  • Have the ability to conduct virtual trainings in a distraction-free environment with strong and reliable internet connectivity
