LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is looking for aComponents Laboratory SupervisorinDunwoody, GA.This position is responsible for the safe handling and manufacture of blood components and performing daily supervisory responsibilities.

Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to)
Perform all duties and responsibilities listed in the Components Laboratory Technician job description.
Employee is expected to be continuously on call to fulfill the needs and obligations of the department.
Conduct regular staff meetings.
Ensure that the workflow and production is at a target level. Monitor component-production processes, using direct observation of staff and IBBIS reports, including but not limited to:
Ensure end-of-shift procedures are conducted appropriately by monitoring the status of the Incomplete Processing Report.
Monitor Apheresis Data for Component Production to verify that non-leukoreduced or low-count units are relabeled appropriately.
Monitor for component discard using the Products Needing Quarantine or Discard report
Ensure that all QC sample submissions are handled according to procedure
Oversee trainees, specifically in regard to hands-on training requirements. Correspond with certified trainers regarding progress of trainees
Coordinate daily work assignments for all team members
Directly supervise scheduled Components Laboratory staff.
Interact professionally with all customers, both external and internal
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Must be able to work a varied schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
Valid drivers license. Must also meet and maintain LifeSouth drivers eligibility requirements
Proficient in a variety of computer software applications
Excellent teamwork skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess
Associates or Bachelors degree
Two years of experience. At least one year of blood bank components experience preferred.
