Shire Patient Service Specialist in Berlin, Germany


The Patient Service Specialist supports and provides administrative assistance to the Head of Patient Services DACH in leading and driving excellence in patient support programmes across all business units, working together with all relevant local functions and global/international teams. He/She will be responsible for the operational execution of local solutions. The incumbent will report to the Head of Patient Services DACH.


  • Supports the assess and monitoring of the impact and execution of current patient service offerings

  • Support in managing third party patient support providers, including handling of the budget

  • Manages purchase orders and processes accounts payable invoices

  • Completes expense reports for Head of Patient Services DACH using the provided electronic system

  • Coordinate and execute preparation materials and execute and track medical-legal approval processes (ZINC)

  • Management of contracts with external suppliers and Health care professionals (HCP)

  • Schedules meetings and makes travel arrangements for department members, visitors, partners and vendors as necessary

  • Provides telephone support; assumes responsibility for copying, faxing, and developing and maintaining filing systems


  • Medical diploma (or training as a nurse) is preferred

  • Experience in pharmaceutical industry (>3 yrs) is required, including intimate knowledge of industry code of conduct and relevant legislation for interaction with patients

  • Understanding of the patient support environment

  • Proven project management experience

  • Excellence command of written and spoken German and English

  • Patient-centric and service oriented mindset

  • Strong enthusiasm with a drive to succeed and the ability to work indepently

  • Ability to drive projects, to manage processes and to deliver results

  • Team player with solid business acumen and budgeting skills

  • Extensive working knowledge of MS Word and MS Outlook

  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel & MS PowerPoint

  • Experience with purchase orders and accounts management systems/software (preferably SAP)

  • Requires strong attention to detail in composing materials (inlc. material), establishing priorities, scheduling meeting and arrange travel itineraries

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with demonstrated ability to simultaneously manage multiple competing tasks and demands

  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering information
