Job Summary

The Office of Admissions at CU Boulder welcomes applications for an Assistant Director of Admission, Out-of-State. Based in Boulder with out of state travel required. This position is responsible for representing University of Colorado Boulder to various constituents including prospective students, family members, high school counselors, on-and-off campus partners and community leaders. This individual will be responsible for assisting in the development of a recruitment strategy in a designated regional territory. They will execute a wide range of off-campus recruitment activities including high school visits, college fairs, area receptions and individual meetings. In addition to these off-campus activities, they will host and support on-campus programming including daily presentations and campus events overseen by the Virtual and On-Campus Programs team. This position will evaluate domestic first year applications. A passion for results and the ability to work both collaboratively and independently in a team-focused and heavily performance driven environment are essential. This position requires an ability to build strong relationships with external partners and campus partners. This position will supervise a minimum of one Admission Counselor and possibly as many as three Admission Counselors. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Responsible for the leadership, management and assessment of efforts for the School Counselor Advisory Board. This position is charged with creating and maintaining the program in collaboration with key university constituents. This will include the overseeing of a budget for at least 1 on-campus advisory meeting. This individual, along with the support task force, implements the program through strategic outreach plan, relationship building and event management. They will also oversee the monthly high school counselor newsletter.

  • Build a recruitment schedule and strategy for an assigned recruitment territory. Regularly pull and analyze historical data to inform recruitment strategy. Extensive travel and sound fiscal management of university resources are expected. Represent CU Boulder at a broad range of events including high school visits, college fairs, and other recruitment activities in this region. Advises and counsels prospects, applicants, and students on University admissions policies, procedures and requirements.

  • Provide admissions-related information to prospective students by telephone, in office appointments and correspondence. Develop and maintain effective communication with constituents in the university, high school, other institutions of higher education, government agencies, community-based organizations and professional organizations regarding the admission of students to CU Boulder.

  • Manages, trains, supervises and evaluates at least one university staff member. As appropriate, may also supervise student staff. Participates in staff development activities including appropriate university workshops, conferences and programs, and state and national professional organizations. This position is a member of the Admissions Supervisor team.

  • Evaluates domestic applications for admission and supporting academic credentials and makes a final admission decision. Develops and maintains strong communication with constituents in the university, high schools, other institutions of higher education, and professional organizations regarding the admission of students to CU Boulder.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • The annual salary for this position is $63,000.

What We Require

  • A bachelors degree from an accredited college or university; equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.

  • A minimum of two years of job related and independent management experience.

  • A valid drivers license and regular access to a vehicle to meet recruitment expectations.
