The Role: Project Manager, Business Intelligence

Reports to: Manager, Business Intelligence

Location: Hybrid- Buena Park, CA or Dallas, TX

Travel Requirements: Less than 10%

FSLA Status: Exempt

Position Summary

Orora Packaging Solutions (OPS) is seeking a BI Project Manager.We have developed a business strategy driven by data, processes and infrastructure that enables us to make decisions targeting improved customer experience and value while driving profitable growth across each sector of the business. The BI Project Manager will be part of a team of dedicated experts focused on the continuous development and expansion of our business intelligence reporting. This team works with regional sales and operations leaders to ensure the availability and development of BI reporting to enable overall improvement through data-based business analysis.

What You’ll be Responsible For (Essential Job functions)

  • Develop, manage, and track complex projects and timelines

  • Translate Business Intelligence strategic vision into actionable plans, prioritization, and roadmaps

  • Independently craft project plans with a clear timeline, planning, and deliverables

  • Set deadlines, assigns responsibilities, monitors, and summarizes progress for multiple projects

  • Involve subject matter experts to ensure on time project completion

  • Prepares reports, presents information, and continuously communicate project status to executive leadership team, management, BI development team, business units, and stakeholders

  • Define scopes and objectives, and formulates systems to parallel overall business strategies, initiatives, andrequirements

  • Identify scope creep & develop a contingency plan to ensure project timelines & deliverables are met

  • Develop flowchart, diagrams, process, and automation, utilizing project management tools and software

  • Bridges the business and the technical development team on project timelines and scope

  • Has the ability to explain BI concept to a wide range of audience on a project management standpoint

  • Provides leadership and support on projects assigned to stay on task, on budget and within scope so that the projects meet all expectations.

  • Able to manage multiple project activities with different set of goals and responsibilities

  • Knowledge of BI and Big Data projects and how to successfully complete these projects

  • Coordinate with BI development team to ensure development schedules are maintained

  • Engage in ongoing support for OPS operations, data, governance, BI architect, reporting and business analytics team

  • Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business systems and user needs

  • Works directly with project and business lead to identify analytical requirements

  • Work with leaders across OPS to continuously uncover new opportunities to deliver innovative Analytics and BI solutions

  • Performs other duties and/or responsibilities as assigned

  • Ensure the proper level of data anonymity and confidentiality

  • Leads the discovery and project charter development process

  • Leads project debrief process to identify future opportunities for efficiency improvements

What We’re Looking For

Required Experience and Education:

  • 5+ years of project management experience

  • Project management experience with deadline reporting required

  • PMP or CAPM Certified

  • Data and/or Business Intelligence background and experience is a plus

  • Power BI, SAP, Jira, Microsoft Project, Visio, and Smartsheet experience is a plus

Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to understand and maintain project timelines.

  • Ability to manage multiple different projects simultaneously.

  • Stakeholder focused, detailed, collaborative, and engaged personality.

  • Comfortable leading group discussions and presenting information.

  • Works effectively in a team, including sharing knowledge and coaching/developing other members.

  • Highly motivated with a positive attitude and a proven ability to think and act independently.

  • Sharp analytical skills with an adaptable and constructive approach to problem solving.

  • Willingness to get involved in detail as well as take lead roles depending on the engagement.

  • Demonstrates expertise in a variety of the field’s concepts, practices and procedures.

  • Demonstrates the ability to understand business needs, systems, and processes.

  • Strong project management, organizational and business analysis skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and intrapersonal communication skills.
