Vanguard Internal Audit, Learning and Development Specialist in Chesterbrook, Pennsylvania

Vanguard’s Internal Audit & SOX (IAS) department has an exciting opportunity in our Center for Audit Practices and Enablement (CAPE) team. This team is responsible for providing leading practices and services to IAS related to delivery of assurance and consulting engagements (e.g., methodology, quality assurance), people (e.g., talent management, learning and development), data analytics, and operations (e.g., technology, communications).

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to join our team as an Internal Audit Learning and Development Specialist. This role is crucial in supporting the continuous growth and development of our internal audit team members, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles, and our organization continues to evolve and align to leading practices and standards. You will work closely with stakeholders across IAS to design, develop, deliver, and sustain learning initiatives aimed at growing the skills, knowledge, and competencies of audit professionals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in internal audit, combined with a passion for learning and development.

In this role you will:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive learning strategy and curriculum tailored to the needs of the Internal Audit SOX organization. This will include an emphasis on audit skills, acumen, and methodology, as well as technical skills, professional development, business and industry knowledge, and emerging trends in internal auditing.

  • Deliver engaging and interactive learning sessions, workshops, and events, utilizing a variety of instructional techniques and formats, including in-person, on-the-job, e-learning, and external training resources

  • Support the deployment and manage the ongoing skills and capability assessment efforts; analyze data to identify areas for improvement and recommend learning or development initiatives. Regularly review and update procedures to align with evolving organizational goals and industry standards and/or best practices.

  • Build strong relationships with IAS stakeholders across all levels and teams. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their skill and development needs and incorporate feedback into the curriculum and initiatives. Partner with stakeholders and subject matter experts in the development and deployment of initiatives.

  • Ensure that training programs align with relevant industry standards, requirements, and best practices, including the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Global Audit Standards. Stay updated on changes to related standards and practices and propose recommendations for changes or enhancements.

  • Regularly assess the effectiveness of our learning and development efforts. Identify areas for improvement and make necessary adjustments to enhance the quality and relevance of initiatives.

  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Additional experiences that will make an impact:

  • Experience in audit, risk or controls function (e.g., internal audits, operational audits, advisory/ consulting/ compliance, professional practices, audit operations) with a strong understanding of audit principles, practices, and methodologies.

  • Experience in creating and delivering learning content or curriculums, preferably for an audit/risk related environment.

  • Strong project management skills including: prioritization, managing multiple initiatives simultaneously, anticipating next steps, adapting to changing situations, meeting deadlines.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across various teams and levels in a dynamic environment to influence and drive change, generate creative approaches/solutions, execute and deliver initiatives

  • Demonstrated passion for learning and development, with a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.

  • Team oriented mindset – willingness to support asks across the board, ranging from operational responsibilities to strategic projects

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years related work experience. Audit, risk, or controls experience preferred.

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.

  • CIA or other financial designation preferred.

This position is hybrid and would require you to be local to our PA office.
