Honeywell Advanced System Software Safety Engineer in Clearwater, Florida

As an Advanced System Software Safety Engineer here at Honeywell, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and reliability of our advanced system software. Your expertise in software safety engineering will be instrumental in identifying and mitigating potential risks and hazards in our software systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement safety strategies, standards, and processes to ensure compliance with industry regulations and best practices. Your contributions will directly impact the safety and performance of our software solutions, enabling us to deliver high-quality products to our customers.

You will report directly to our System Safety Engineering Manager and you'll work out of our Clearwater, FL location on a hybrid work schedule.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Conduct safety assessments and hazard analyses of software systems

  • Develop and implement safety requirements and guidelines for software development

  • Collaborate with software engineers to ensure safety considerations are integrated into the software development lifecycle

  • Perform safety verification and validation activities to ensure compliance with safety standards

  • Participate in verification reviews

  • Participate in design reviews and provide recommendations for improving software safety

  • Perform the following assessments and reviews

SSA – System Safety Assessment

SAR – Safety Assessment Report

FHA – Functional Hazard Analysis

SwHA – SW Hazard Analysis

SwFMEA – SW Failure Mode Effects Analysis

FTA – Fault Tree Analysis

Reliability Predictions

LOR Table – Level of Rigor

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

YOU MUST HAVE

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Engineering

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in software safety engineering or a related role

• Strong knowledge of software safety standards and regulations

• Practical experience with MIL-STD-882E

• Experience in conducting safety assessments and hazard analyses

• Proficiency in software safety verification and validation techniques

WE VALUE

• Knowledge of DO-178C and DO-254 standards

• Master's degree in a technical discipline (such as computer science, software engineering, or a related fielda technical discipline such as computer science, software engineering)

• Certification in software safety engineering

• Experience in the aerospace industry

• Project management skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Existing government issued clearance
