1 Experience (Years) 0 Category Technical - Mechanical Type of Position Regular Full-Time Level Apprentice Visa Requirements Citizen only Overview The Test Facilities Operation, Maintenance and Engineering (TFOME) team at the NASA Glenn Research Center provides engineering and technical services in the aeropropulsion and space propulsion and power test facilities. We are currently seeking Research Lab Mechanic (RLM) Technician Apprentices. The RLM Apprentice is an entry level position that will train under journeyman level technicians for a total of 8000 hours of on the job training in order to complete requirements for the state of Ohio and NASA's Journeymanship program. Responsibilities The apprentice will train under journeyman level technicians for a total of 8,000 on the job training hours in order to complete the state of Ohio andNASA's Apprenticeship program. Apprentices will be taught required technical skills to handle work assignments related to the operation and maintenance of unique research test facilities located at the NASAGlenn Research Center. Training will include, but is not limited to: Design, fabrication, assembly, repair and troubleshooting of research and development test hardware associated with mechanical applications. Qualifications Candidates must be currently enrolled or have successfully completed a two (2) year Associate degree program in Manufacturing/Industrial Technology; Aeronautical Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering Technology from an accredited Technical College. Must be willing to complete 8,000 of on the job training as part of the requirements of the Apprenticeship program. Candidates will be required to demonstrate competency over the course of the program in order to qualify for on-going employment. Must be able to communicate and work well in a team environment. Capable of following directions and utilizing time wisely for the maximum efficiency on assigned work tasks. Must be safety conscience at all times. EOE/Minority/Female/Disabled/Veteran
