The General Ledger Controlling Compliance team has responsibility for ensuring the development and adherence to standardized general ledger controlling processes across Shire’s European entities. This includes key processes such as accruals, VAT accounting and reporting, and payroll accounting.
This role will primarily focus on the payroll accounting, but will be expected to provide cover on other accounting areas when team workload and priorities require. The role is the primary finance point of contact for the Payroll team.
Job Duty and Description
re transactions relating to payroll are recorded accurately and on a timely basis and account balances are made up of identifiable and supportable items
Review and post payroll accounting entries for a range of European legal entities
Act as the main point of contact for the Payroll team, assisting them with the reconciliation process and ensuring timely follow up of items under query
Ensure all month end procedures relating to payroll accounting are carried out according to the monthly closing timetable
Accruals accounting and monthly compliance
Provide assistance on the accruals accounting and compliance, conducting review of the significant accruals (per defined thresholds) and obtain supporting evidence to substantiate the validity of accrual versus work done.
Provide assistance with other accounting tasks and provision of information, resolving queries etc.
Education & Experience Requirements
Degree or equivalent
Accounting professional exams – late stage studier or qualified
Experience of an ERP system
Microsoft Office experience, particularly Excel
US GAAP knowledge
Experience of shared services environment for a global operation
