Sr. Maintenance Technician (Welder)

Gilead Sciences in Edmonton, Alberta is seeking a knowledgeable and motivated professional capable of working effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment. The successful candidate will assume a full-time employment role focusing on welding and pipefitting in the capacity of Sr. Maintenance Technician.

Essential Duties and Job Functions:

  • Performs Corrective and Preventative maintenance on a variety of plant equipment.

  • Exercises judgment within well-defined and established procedures and practices to determine appropriate action; identifies problems and generates alternatives and recommendations within defined processes.

  • Complies with all safety regulations and current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

  • Performs installation, maintenance, and repairs of line manufacturing equipment.

  • Locates and diagnoses failure, replaces defective components and performs basic troubleshooting using standard electronic equipment, detailed drawings, diagrams, sketches, specifications, prints, manuals, and verbal and/or written instructions.

  • Maintains appropriate maintenance and repair logs.

  • Uses a variety of hand, power and test tools and equipment.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

  • Previous experience in a Chemical, Pharmaceutical, or Manufacturing facility is preferred.

  • Proficiency in Plumbing, Heating, Steam, and Refrigeration systems is essential.

  • Familiarity with Lathe and Milling operations is preferred.

  • Experience with Mixers, Dryers, Centrifuges, and centrifugal pumps is preferred.

  • Participation in an On-Call rotation is mandatory.

  • Flexibility for overtime hours may be necessary.

  • Occasional work in confined spaces is required.

  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of maintenance systems, methods and procedures.

  • Demonstrates strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Basic Requirements:

  • 6+ years of relevant experience and a high school diploma; or 5+ years of relevant experience with an associates degree.

  • Experience working in a cGMP environment.
