Shire Workday Operations Lead in Exton, Pennsylvania

Primary Duties

The HRIS Manager plays a very important role in influencing and delivering the HRIS Roadmap for the organization. The HRIS Manager ensures the design and delivery of new functionality and system enhancements, provides ongoing escalated support of HR technology tools, ensures governance of HR-IT operations and processes for specific Functions/Projects/COE and HRBP Partners.

The HRIS Manager will have direct “client facing” accountability with key partners within HR and will be accountable for a specific product/deliverable set for that partner group. The HRIS Manager must work to understand the business outcomes our partners are trying to drive short and long term so that they can design solutions that accurately inform the future state design and delivery of enhanced or new HR technology.

The HRIS Manager will have deep expertise in Workday and a good understanding of different HCM modules including Recruit, Talent, Compensation and Payroll. The role rquires functional process knowledge to understand complex business requirements and translate them into Workday configuration. The HRIS Manager will partner with cross-functional teams in the assessment, design, testing and implementation of change requests / enhancements.


15% - Provide troubleshooting support for Workday issues, including coordinating with vendors and internal teams

  • Ensure work is performed according to defined processes and within Service Level Agreements

  • Seek internal and external learning opportunities to advance knowledge of HR systems, tools and new capabilities that the team can offer our key partners

  • Collaborate with functional and technical stakeholders to optimize business processes (particularly Recruit, Talent, Compensation and Payroll)

70% - Delivery enhanced or new functionality in alignment with the Business Goals and HR vision for a specific business partner or project.

  • Leads the research and evaluation of new and/or alternative solutions and technologies to enhance operational effectiveness and reduce costs.

  • Ensure delivery, documentation and escalated support of Business Process configuration and integration/interfaces for both new functionality and enhancements

  • Engages team members to ensure the appropriate change management plans are in place to support new, enhanced technology or functionality

  • Provide necessary training to end users to increase their effectiveness and ability to use the system(s)

  • Ensure compliant security administration supporting data privacy and protection requirements

  • Ensure the appropriate development and execution of SOX compliance

  • Delivery appropriate quality control over HR applications/platforms including maintenance of test scenarios and appropriate execution of testing for various changes

  • Leads external partner/vendor management for Workday and possibly other HR tool vendors

15% - Ensure adherence to HRIS governance and compliance practices

  • Understand project outcomes and ensure all work is appropriately project managed

  • Develop detailed projects plans and reporting mechanisms to monitor and address issues and risks

  • Ensure change management and communications are integrated as part of the project plans

  • Pro-actively escalate issues and risks when needed

  • Ensure project is delivered on time and within budget

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Advanced educational degree or equivalent work experience; education concentration in Information Technology, Engineering, Human Resources, Business Administration or related fields is preferred

  • 7+ years of progressively increasing responsible experience in corporate Information Technology or Human Resource Information technology management (HRIS or HRIT) or Human Resource operations management including data, platform, and systems management

  • Experience with Workday required

  • Experience managing cross functional global projects and/or teams

  • Project management experience required
