Overview of role:

The Medical Well-being Manager will work on the Health Services team in Colleague Total Rewards and Well-being (CTRW). As a key team member, they will contribute to the overall goal of building a culture of health for colleagues and their families at American Express.

Role entails management of all health & wellbeing initiatives in India market – healthy living wellness centers, flu vaccination program, annual medical checks, condition management program, physical & nutritional wellbeing initiatives, medical documents' validation, data warehouse, first aid & AED management, business continuity plan support and other occupational health initiatives along with leading annual budgets.

The individual is encouraged to support Regional Medical Director & various market medical / other teams in delivering great colleague experience, collaborating - reporting to appropriate market / regional / global stakeholders focusing on business deliverables.

Healthy Living Wellness Centre Management:

  • Serve as the primary resource for clinical support on all aspects of health related activities and emergencies in market (e.g. pandemic management)

  • Provide clinical mentorship to managing medical concerns and ensuring emergency preparedness such as communicable diseases, and various other scenarios to support Colleagues and maintaining business operations

  • Assist the team in providing leadership with regular updates to facilitate risk mitigation, emergency preparedness, crisis intervention, and evaluation of corresponding data

  • Improve overall colleague health and therefore, lower associated costs such as sickness absenteeism, reduce absenteeism and associated loss of efficiency

  • Be an active member of India Crisis Response and Crisis Management Teams, crisis intervention, and evaluation of corresponding data

  • Define and manage Emergency Management protocols, clinic SOP’s and onboarding the medical team – nurses & doctors

  • Lead all aspects of critical functioning of clinic management (Drug inventory management; Quality of equipment; employee satisfaction).

  • Strategize the wellness centre’s role in overall health & wellbeing and active participation in clinic related issues

  • Be the Third Party Relationship manager for clinic vendor, overseeing contracts, contract renewals, and RFPs whenever needed

  • Strategize, design and implement the communication campaigns of Wellness Centre

  • Lead and manage Wellness Centre Corporate Governance

  • Lead and manage the Monthly reporting of Wellness Centre Data

  • Keep track of the team budget forecast and spend, including processing payments and working alongside finance team

2. Healthy Living Initiatives

  • Support the Healthy Living teams with the creation of health and well-being campaigns and events

  • Understand different health data – clinics data, insurance data and plan health & wellbeing initiatives accordingly.

  • Partner with clinic team to define Healthy Living calendar of initiatives

  • Partner with communications team to define communications plan for all health & wellbeing initiatives

  • Manage all HL vendors

  • Plan and implement the Annual Health Check-ups and subsequently implement care programs for lifestyle disease management.

  • Plan & implement Flu Shots/immunization programs

3. Occupational Health

  • This key team member is a point person for managing medical accommodations in India. Will maintain compliance with health-related regulations including disability related workplace accommodations (statutory reporting of workplace injuries/incidences to government authority under Shop & Establishment Act)

  • This individual will not only provide medical expertise to the team for Medical Accommodation process but also offers crucial guidance and support to the health & well-being offerings across market.

  • Will further facilitate risk mitigation by working to reduce and manage work-related illnesses /accidents and health problems.

  • Plan First Aid and AED management program along with global team

4. Reporting

  • Align on data, report regularly on participation data, utilization reports, etc. (At regional level & with global teams as needed)

  • Design dashboards

Qualification Needed:

  • Healthcare Professional with 5-12 years of experience (MBBS/BSC Nursing with occupational health background/MBA in healthcare)

  • Must meet requirements for medical licensure.

  • 3 Must have requirements:

a) Clinical experience/knowledge, experience working in a good and well-established hospital

b) Occupational health experience is a mandate

c) Corporate health experience

  • Exposures in occupational health, wellbeing, and mental health in a professional multinational company settings, as well as the opportunity to work with regional and global teams

  • Ability to plan and handle logistical complexities

  • Able to thrive in a global and virtual work environment where teams may be spread amongst multiple locations

  • Excellent interpersonal skills (written and verbal) and sensitivity to cultural nuance

  • Demonstrates active thought leadership and ability to influence remotely
