Job Function and Description
Oversee scientific training design, development & delivery
· Develop learning strategy and objectives
· Lead the development of core curriculum for the various therapeutic areas and new training programs to support the launch of products especially in new disease areas
· Conduct training needs assessment and gap analyses to identify (in collaboration with key stakeholders) necessary and new training opportunities for the countries and regions taking global and regional culture differences into consideration to ensure best outcome of trainings.
· Create or manage the development of scientific training materials in cooperation with internal/ external experts
· Design, annually, a seminar series and internal training programs using medical subject matter experts.
· Support the Medical Communication Lead to develop an e-learning platform for the therapeutic areas
Education and Experience Requirements
A medical or science Bachelor’s degree is required
A higher level degree (e.g. MD, Masters, PhD or PharmD) and concentration in education is preferred
10 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, preferably within a matrix structure is required
3 years of experience within medical or biopharmaceutical training (industry or vendor) is required
Experience with learning management systems and distance learning platforms is required
Experience in customer-facing roles (e.g. Medical Director, Medical Science Liaison, Product Specialist) is preferred
Deep knowledge of curriculum design, competency-based training and adult learning best practices, legal and regulatory requirements, Codes of Practice, Standard Operating Practices and guidelines

- Definition and development of Medical Training Plans and platforms in alignment with Global Medical Team, International Medical Affairs, and Shared Medical Services requirements

Position is accountable to Sr.Director, Shared Medical Services
Internal: Medical BU Heads, International Medical Affairs Head and Regional Medical Leads, Publications, Medical Communications, Medical Information, Medical Systems, Regulatory, Compliance, Legal, Pharmacovigilance/Safety, Technical Operations, Other training functions within Shire, Corporate Communications
Other Job Requirements
Availability to travel approximately 10-20% of time
Availability to participate in early or late meetings/teleconferences
