Shire US Meetings and Event Lead in Lexington, Massachusetts
The Meeting and Event Management Lead serves as the lead point of contact for the internal commercial business leaders and is also responsible for directing and leading team of internal staff and contractors in all operations supporting the US Commercial Businesses Meetings, Congresses, Events and Conventions.
Key responsibilities include:
Lead the entire Meeting and Events function including organization structure, staffing, resource requirements and annual operating budget.
Direct the meeting planning staff by providing strategic direction on assessment, design and implementation of policies, procedures and tools for meeting planning services.
Provide direction, assigns projects, fosters teamwork and assures positive results for direct reports on contracting, planning, logistics and execution of all U.S. activities. (meetings, events and conventions)
Support an environment of a high performing teams by elevating competencies and skills to support meeting and event execution.
Establish trusted working relationships with all U.S. commercial partners, internal cross-functional teams, customers, suppliers and vendors.
Demonstrated meetings expertise with emphasis on contracting, logistics management and standardization to other departments while developing a relationship
Defineand drive adoption of US Commercial strategy, standards, best practices and metrics tracking.
Drives approach to how to use outside agencies, identifies and manages all outsourced meeting agencies and service providers to execute established meeting and event goals that will deliver the greatest ROI to the business.

Drive the execution of US Commercial Meeting and Event strategy by establishing project plans, tracking progress and direction of internal staff and external vendors.
Support the US Commercial Leaders and Meeting and Events staff to ensure the timely and successful delivery of all meetings and alignment with the US Commercial objectives.
Drive the creation and adoption of strategy, best practices and guidelines across all businesses that meet U.S. Commercial operating models and strategies.
Provide oversight on defining and monitoring KPIs and metrics management systems to set goals and analyze data. Ensure the metrics are gathered, assimilated and communicated to senior management.
Responsible for Budget oversight and strict financial management by establishing processes for effective budget control by establishing audits, and providing yearly budgets based on historical data
Support the meeting compliance team by providing guidance on vendor selection, performance reviews, and ROI.30% Leadership –
Lead team of meeting planners and meeting compliance staff including organization structure, staffing and resource requirements, and annual operating budgets.
Create an environment that fosters development of team members and identify learning opportunities to develop technical and strategic skills of staff aligned with established competency models.
Responsible for establishing measurable department goal setting and identifying performance measurement through evaluations, coaching and feedback.
Serve as an expert in Meeting Planning platforms and technologies by keeping current on innovative advances within the pharma /healthcare meeting industry.
Create an environment that fosters development of team members, providing L&D opportunities ongoing coaching and mentoring to ensure bench strength30% Cross-Functional –
Responsible for maintaining reports and data required for the Corporate Integrity Agreement (CIA) and serving as a resource to Sr. Leadership to support the annual Independent review organization (IRO) process.
Create and maintain strategic and trusting relationships with business stakeholders, guiding and influencing commercial business meetings and events strategies and brand plans
Proven success in facilitating discussions to establish common ground between stakeholders and meeting and events planning team processes ensuring expectations are clearly communicated and goals are met.
Develop strong working relationships with legal, regulatory and compliance leaders to understand how guidelines will play a role in Meeting and Events activities.
