Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories Quality Engineer in Melbourne, Australia

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Lead, plan, design, and implement tests to monitor quality using engineering principles.2. Acquire and analyze data using standard quantitative methods to facilitate process analysis and improvements.3. Lead stakeholders in understanding problems and investigating root cause; serve as a technical advisor.4. Guide and mentor stakeholders to ensure the implementation of effective solutions to prevent recurrence.5. Lead cross-functional meetings to address quality issues and brainstorm solutions.

  2. Provide technical leadership for process improvement projects.7. Model, teach and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.8. Understand. Create. Simplify.9. Other duties as assigned.Required QualificationsB.S. degree in Engineering, Math, Statistics, or other technical degree, or equivalent experienceTypically, 6+ years of experience in quality engineering, process improvement, or data analyticsStrong project management and problem-solving skills

Experience using metrology and statistical methodsKnowledge of quality tools and process improvement techniques (FMEA, Six Sigma, PDCA, Lean Manufacturing (WCM), Control Charts, Histograms, Pareto)Knowledge of applicable industry standards with understanding of probability/reliability concepts

Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skillsAbility to learn new skills and assume new responsibilitiesAbility to work cooperatively in a diverse team environmentBackground check results satisfactory to SELNegative drug test result(s)Preferred QualificationsASQ Certified Quality Engineer or equivalent certificationKnowledge of ISO 9001Knowledge of design, manufacturing, and service processesPhysical RequirementsNone
