Microsoft Corporation Senior Software Engineer in Redmond, Washington

The software defined datacenter team is central to making Azure the most efficient cloud platform. We work closely with the Azure Core Research and Cloud and Infrastructure groups to find improvements in power, cooling, and space usage continuously drive efficiency to support Azure’s tremendous growth.

We are looking to hire a Senior Software Engineer to join our team who will be working with power control systems, live telemetry streams, and large datasets to run analyses and make decisions on dynamic power control. You will work closely with other teams on systems to control power and cooling utilization. You will collaborate with engineers across Microsoft to ensure the safety and efficiency of servers running in our datacenters. Responsibilities

  • Lead and maintain communication with key partners across the Microsoft ecosystem of engineers.

  • Contribute to efforts to ensure the correct processes are followed to achieve a high degree of security, privacy, safety, and accessibility.

  • Create and implement code for a product, service, or feature, reusing code as applicable.

  • Contribute to efforts to collect, classify, and analyze data with little oversight on a range of metrics (e.g., health of the system, where bugs might be occurring).

  • Maintain operations of live service as issues arise on a rotational, on-call basis.

  • Contribute to the identification of dependencies, and the development of design documents for a product area with little oversight.Other

Qualifications

Required Qualifcations:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.

  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional / Preferred Qualifcations:

  • Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in C#.

  • Experience in analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.

  • Experience in critical production online service environments.

  • Experience in owning and leading end-to-end products.

  • Experience in Cloud technologies and Datacenter technologies.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
