Providence St. Joseph Health Clinical Informatics Lab Specialist in Renton, Washington

Description We are currently offering H ybrid work from one of our footprint states which are inclusive of AK, WA, OR, MT, CA and or TX Providence is seeking a Clinical Informatics Lab Specialist who will: Be a subject matter expert that works independently to support laboratory components of the EHR, clinical decision support and laboratory specific information systems associated with laboratory testing. Participate in a collaborative effort with key contributors and other informatics lab specialists, to design and develop effective laboratory workflow, operational processes and system functions to drive optimal outcomes and efficiencies. Support leadership decision making by data gathering and conducting sophisticated analysis. Implement change to align with patient safety, strategic and regulatory goals and is effective communicator for varying audiences from clinicians to executive leadership and vendors. Develop and maintain close relationships with key contributors, which include system and operational leadership, front line staff, governance groups, multi-disciplinary staff, and vendors. Collaborate to prioritize demands, set appropriate expectations, establish appropriate metrics and targets, and manage change implementation. In this position you will: Provide technical and application expertise and recommend processes and/or procedures for enhancements, and modifications to improve existing laboratory information systems. Respond to improvement needs in the functional operation of the laboratory computer systems. Collaborate and document system design and workflow processes of system needs for clinical and laboratory management, staff, and providers. Function as a liaison between laboratory stakeholders and the system build teams. Provide technical and application expertise to design, analyze, and optimize clinical and laboratory information systems. Ensure system design, achieve Health System objectives of standardization, integration, and efficiency and supports compliance with policies and procedures, legal and regulatory requirements. Share knowledge and expertise with team members. Work collaboratively with the education team to develop change communication and training materials. Obtain approval where required. Perform routine maintenance when appropriate; assist with testing updates and new releases prior to production use. Additional Responsibilities: Frequent travel among facilities is required. Occasional travel among PSJH regions is required. A valid driver's license, care license, and a reliable vehicle for transportation throughout the region is required. Employee may be required to work on-call, after hours and variable shifts and weekends. Demonstrate compliance with all system and departmental policies and procedures. Maintain compliance with annual safety and competency testing. Perform other duties as assigned. Effective written communication skills as appropriate for the needs of the audience. Ability to effectively build relationships with customers, executive management, and other stakeholders through positive interaction and problem identification and resolution. Broad knowledge and understanding of the trends and changes taking place in health care Ability to work within tight time frames and meet strict deadlines Knowledge of the use of health information technology to improve the laboratory and related processes (eg. electronic medical records, laboratory information systems, CPOE, laboratory-provider links, etc.).
