Boeing Vancouver is seeking a Principal Solutions Architect within the Flight Operations Data Science portfolio, collaborating with the Senior Manager of Data Science & Analytics. The position will be based from our Richmond, British Columbia office; however, a hybrid work style is offered, allowing the candidate to work both virtually and in the office.

The Solutions Architect will be responsible for delivery of ground-breaking Data-as-a-Service (DaaS) and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) products for internal, commercial and military customers. As part of a large, multi-project data science software development team comprising 45+ data professionals, the Solutions Architect will be one of the key technical leaders of the office.

This role will work on a team of highly motivated developers, analysts and data scientists. This role will work with leadership, development teams and partners to establish and drive implementation of technical strategies and roadmaps for success of each product and initiative. Candidates will bring an understanding of fundamental software development standards and practices, cloud infrastructure, and security practices, but to be successful in this role, the Architect must also demonstrate professional curiosity, a love of learning, a passion for problem-solving and a resourceful, get-it-done drive for delivering.

Position Responsibilities :

  • Collaborate with functional area leads to resolve business, technology, and solution architecture requirements and interfaces for AI/ML focused applications

  • Communicate architectural principles and governance to help guide the solution design, process, and approach of AI products and services.

  • Work closely with Data Scientists, Business System Analysts, and Developers throughout the product/service ideation-to-retirement life-cycle to assess technology and systems impacts.

  • Provide technical leadership to deliver innovative products and services that meet the needs of our customers.

  • Lead the identification of design constraints and ensure architecture conforms to business and technical requirements.

  • Champion architecture and data/information management standards and strategies.

  • Assess the impact of architectural decisions to a product life-cycle.

  • Ensure system architecture meets relevant security requirements.

  • Draft conceptual, logical and physical data models for data pipelines and systems

  • Navigate security, policy, and regulatory requirements and ensure designs are compliant.

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite in Richmond BC. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 7+ years of experience in software development

  • 3+ years’ experience working with Cloud architecture

  • Must be legally able to work in Canada.

  • Individual must not pose a risk for safeguarding of controlled goods.

  • Must be eligible to handle US export-controlled data

Preferred Qualifications (Education/Experience):

  • Implementation experience of MLOps Infrastructure to support AI solution Lifecycle is an asset.

  • Implementation experience in a big data ecosystem and integration of data analytics workflows and models into production software is an asset

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering or related field would be an asset

  • Experience working in a global technology organization and leading many partners is an asset

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is an asset

  • Experience with development, deployment and version control tools (e.g. Eclipse, Git, Jira, VersionOne) is an asset

  • Aviation and Aerospace industry experience is an asset

Typical Education and Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience, 18 years' related work experience, etc.).

Relocation:

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Additional Information:

This requisition is for a locally hired position in Canada. The employer is Boeing Canada. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada. Benefits and pay are determined by Canada and are not on Boeing US-based payroll. This is not an expatriate assignment.

Summery Pay Range: CAD 110,000 – CAD 195,000
