As AIG Korea’s Financial Controller, you are respected for your deep technical expertise and ability to oversee all aspects of financial information including Korean-IFRS/IFRS17 and USGAAP when needed. You balance the needs of multiple stakeholders, and will be able to support the company’s senior management team by providing insightful financial information in a prompt manner.
The candidate, as a Finance senior member, will work very closely with a country CFO and head of FP&A mostly in overseeing local statutory reporting incl. account payables, tax and Korean-SOX.
About the role:
The Financial Controller is responsible for all aspect of the company’s local statutory financial position through defining and updating accounting processes to ensure adherence to the company’s financial reporting standards/FSS reporting. With new implementation of IFRS17 in 2023, candidates must be able to adapt to a continually evolving environment and thrive in an autonomous and empowering workplace while managing accounting staff.
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for financial statement disclosure mostly in K-IFRS/IFRS17 via overseeing the monthly close to ensure timely compliance and accurate financial reporting
Managing various accounting divisions incl. local statutory reporting/FSS reporting, AP, Tax, and Korean-SOX
Proactively participate in various projects relating to financial closing activities with regional and global counterparts
Leading GSF (Global Service Fees) implementation with regional and global TP(Transfer Pricing) teams
Dealing with internal and external audit activities in ensuring a timely resolution over issues if any
Collaboration with various departments in Finance (FP&A/USGAAP/Investment/Capital/Reinsurance) and Actuary to achieve Finance/Company goals
Ad-hoc requests from external and internal auditor, SOX and Region/Group
What we’re looking for:
Key Capabilities:
Detailed understanding of financial statements (Korean-IFRS/IFRS17)
Sound experience in Finance and Accounting in an international business environment
Strong analytical skills and proficient working knowledge of financial systems
Strong leadership capabilities
Process-oriented with a drive for continual improvement in operation
Effective interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment making quick decisions while adhering to sound underwriting discipline
Excellent numerical ability with accuracy and being excellent attention to details
Key Experience:
15+ years of experience/5+ years of relevant work experience in the insurance industry
Experience in IFRS17 close/disclosure
Experience in IFRS17 system development and project management preferred
Fluent in both Korean and English
Experience in managing teams/people
Be part of a collaborative culture that is high performing, dynamic and fast-faced
Relevant professional qualification (KICPA or USCPA) preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Accounting or equivalent
