What’s the role?
As Hobart Reporter for Sky News you will report in the field and cover a wide variety of stories including news, sport and weather across Hobart and Tasmania. You will have the ability to report live in a dynamic 24-hour news environment while also writing and preparing packages and other news content, including digital copy.
Key Responsibilities
Report live and write news packages.
Attend news conferences, conduct interviews and newsgather on a wide range of issues.
Work closely with the Sky team and liaise with senior editorial staff in Sydney to decide upon news coverage.
Build and maintain a network of contacts to enable you to break stories.
Capacity to shoot, write, edit and present news stories from start to finish, on a daily basis (training provided on operating a video journalist kit)
File for digital platforms.
Pitch original news stories and ideas.
Who are you?
Good writing skills and news judgement with experience in live and breaking news
Excellent time management skills, the ability to multitask and work to strict deadlines
Attention to detail
Ability to work independently
Ability to write engaging, accurate and crisp copy, quickly, and under pressure
