What Y ou’ll Be Doing

The Capital Markets arm of CIBC provides corporate, government and institutional clients with innovative solutions to help them raise capital and grow and invest actively throughout North America and key financial centers around the world. To deliver on its vision to be our clients’ preferred capital markets banking partner across multiple products and services, both in Canada and where our core competencies can be exported. The Capital Markets mission is to bring Canadian Capital Markets products to Canada and the rest of the world, and also bring the world to Canada.

Within CIBC Global Markets, the Alternate Solutions Group (ASG) was launched in 2013 with a mandate to develop innovative and creative technology driven capital markets solutions. This group is a FinTech oriented unconventional capital markets organization that combines the innovative spirit and agility of a FinTech startup and financial strength and strong governance protocol of a major financial institution. It has been recognized as a global leader in providing disruptive technological capital markets solutions in a number of product areas including FX Conversion Cross Border Payments, Dynamic Currency Conversion, Multi-currency Pre-paid cards, Foreign Cash & Precious Metals Online and white-labeling thereof. ASG’s client base stretches from some of the largest banks in the world to CIBC’s retail clients.

The successful candidate will be a key member of the Alternate Solutions Group and will support existing ASG products as well as the distribution of ASG products to primarily corporate and institutional clients located in key centers around the world. We are looking for high-energy individuals with an entrepreneurial spirit, who are focused on the challenge of building the bank of the future. The role operates in a fast-paced environment as part of a dynamic, hardworking, production-focused product team. The incumbent’s mandate is to provide exceptional service and support to existing ASG clients and identify new opportunities to increase the distribution of ASG products and drive profitable revenue growth. A key aspect of the role will be around managing data and performing analytics to drive expansion and improve quality of the services. The role also requires a strong internal partnership with ASG distribution and technology teams to ensure solutions are designed to meet specific client needs and are seamlessly implemented.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Product Management - Have a detailed understanding of the product (technically and operationally) and the markets we operate in, keep track of external developments that may impact our business. Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in data sets and provide senior management with recommendations on enhancing product offering, growth opportunities and business initiatives. Provide input, execute and monitor progress of the strategic product roadmap. Monitor and drive technological changes for the product . Analyze client portfolio performance and economic factors, on an ongoing basis throughout the day to be able to respond to client requests and address anomalies. Work closely with infrastructure groups to develop appropriate solutions and timely execution. Attend cross-functional meetings for Capital Markets Projects and provide line of business direction when required to do so. Perform market research and competitor analysis and provide product recommendations to senior management.

  • Relationship Building - Support in the development of ASG’s business strategies and plans to enable ASG to deliver on its mandate, goals and objectives. Establish and maintain deep relationships and provide exceptional service and support to all existing and prospective ASG clients. Develop in-depth understanding of ASG product suite to effectively support clients on a regular basis (i.e. client presentations, conference calls, one-on-one meetings). Assist in the execution of all aspects of the group’s initiatives including ad-hoc projects and presentations for the management team. Attend key meetings to discuss progress and strategic direction for the line of business. Attend key client meetings to discuss business performance and opportunities Monitor/track and analyze client portfolio performance and economic factors, on an ongoing basis throughout the day to be in a position to respond to client requests and address anomalies.

  • Client Focus - Produce high-quality, pitch books and marketing collateral for ASG product suite. Provide input for regular updates to ASG clients with regards to business performance. Maintain extremely high productivity levels with an emphasis on effective time management and accuracy. Maintain strong awareness of trends, competitive solutions, client needs and regulatory considerations. Cross-sell other products, depending on product availability and customers’ requirements, making sound judgment. Perform financial analysis to determine patterns, trends and profitability. On your own initiative, develop product knowledge through directed or self-directed study. Be prepared to cross train when the appropriate time arises, as suggested by management. Share any developed skills, knowledge, ideas with management and other members of the Alternative Solutions Group.
