Shire R&D Global Program Manager in Zug, Switzerland
The GPM, together with the GDL and PSL, provides the strategic vision and guides the team in developing integrated plans to successfully execute the strategy. The GPM will be responsible for one or more programs with clearly defined objectives.
The GPM will:
Coordinate and drive development process planning activities of the EPT/LPT including Integrated Development Plans, Long Range Plan, budget inputs and go/no go criteria as appropriate.
Work closely with the GDL/PSL to facilitate the elaboration, approval and execution of the global program strategy, as well as facilitate the decision-making process for their development program(s)
Work independently to provide best-in-class operations and program management expertise to drive EPT/LPT members towards excellence in execution.
Maintain the overall development plans and enterprise R&D portfolio inputs
Collaborate with GDL, PSL and EPT/LPT functional team members to ensure coordinated evaluation of product opportunities and/or scenarios and development of comprehensive, integrated recommendations (e.g. to Governance Committees) and strategic and operational product plans based on program defined objectives. Facilitate collection, alignment and validation of LPT sales and marketing budget ensuring alignment to LPT strategy
Facilitate preparations and analyses of LPT business reviews, goal setting and routine evaluation processes, and progress against LPT strategy and action plans
Execute and drive the annual planning processes from a LPT perspective, i.e. Product Strategy, Lifecycle Management, Strategic Product Plans, Brand Plans, Budgeting, Long Range Planning in partnership with GDL and PSL.
Lead and facilitate cross-functional team meetings (agendas, minutes, tracking actions, etc.)
Facilitate team goal setting and tracking to ensure adherence to plan and strategy, and end of year team evaluation process
Coordinate EPT/LPT communications to ensure team member alignment
Issue and present reports to senior management on a routine basis
Provide clear direction on product development requirements to meet expectations of external customers and business stakeholders
Be responsible for making decisions regarding the appropriate risk when there is substantial program impact
Lead other cross-functional projects (either strategic and/or operational) required by R&D GPM.
Reinforce team operating principles to maximize alignment within the team and with other functions.
Education and Experience Requirements
Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in drug development in a pharmaceutical environment
Minimum of 5 years of cross-functional program management experience
Demonstrated ability to manage complex cross-functional teams and processes
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent proficiency a plus
Strong knowledge and understanding of global drug product development
Strong understanding and competency in planning processes and decision making
Demonstrated experience using standard program management tools and software including integrated development plans, timelines, risk management, and budget development and monitoring
Training, coaching and leadership experience
Demonstrated finance and business acumen
Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or related field required; advanced degree in life sciences or MBA preferred
