Amazon’s APAC Operations Compliance Team is looking for a Food Safety Senior Manager to join our team in Japan.

As a Food Safety Senior Manager you are responsible for ensuring food safety storage and distribution compliance with all relevant food safety regulatory guidelines in Japan and company policies. You will develop compliance strategy, build new solutions and processes, improve existing processes for ambient, chilled and frozen food products. This is an exciting and challenging position that provides Compliance guidance and executes risk-mitigation models for all the existing and emerging food businesses including Amazon’s private brands in Japan and APAC Market as you expand programs in Japan across APAC countries. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate a strong sense of ownership, a willingness to deep dive and an aptitude for relentlessly inventing solutions with excellent judgment and instincts in decision-making

Key job responsibilities

• Defines clear compliance strategy for Japan, and as an extension to APAC,sets high performance standards for Operations.

• Engages cross-organizationally with leadership to design onsite food safety controls, best-in-class processes and systems, and drives continual improvement.

• Makes recommendations to senior management on opportunities for organizational and business-level risk mitigation improvement by using data.

• Builds strategic relationship with local authorities and Key Opinion Leaders to anticipate early and influence the potential regulatory changes.

• Maintains subject matter mastery and current industry knowledge to advise senior management on emerging trends, regulatory requirements and on impact to business strategic roadmap.

・組織的およびビジネスレベルのリスク軽減の機会について上層部に対しデータに基づく提言をする。

・地方自治体および主要なオピニオンリーダーとの戦略的関係を構築し、潜在的な規制の変更を早期に予測、また変更に影響をもたらす。

・対象分野の専門知識と業界知識を維持し、新たなトレンド、規制要件、およびビジネス戦略ロードマップへの影響について上層部に助言する。

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Food Technology or equivalent

• 5+ years of experience in food safety and quality in a food manufacturing environment or retail business

• Ability to work independently and autonomously

• Outstanding writing, presentation and communication skills

• Experience utilizing analytical and problem-solving skills on a day-to-day basis.

• Solid program management skillset, capability of leading complexity initiatives

• Fluent in Japanese and business level English

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in consumer goods, retail, e-commerce environment or other fast-paced, large-scale technology driven businesses is a strong plus.

• Specific knowledge and/or experience of food safety regulations and standards in Japan

• Leveraging an external network, with previous experience with regulatory influencing, and/or regulatory science advocating.
