State of Massachusetts Communications Coordinator in 600 Washington Street, Massachusetts

The Department of Transitional Assistance is seeking qualified individuals for the position of Communications Coordinator. A dynamic storyteller and content creator, the Communications Coordinator will be an integral part of the communication team that oversees the agency’s multilingual communication with clients, staff, agency partners, and the public at large. Under the direction of the Director of Communications, the Communication Coordinator will support Massachusetts residents’ food and economic security through a wide range of data-informed, accessible, and dignified communications, including using multimedia tools to create content aimed at reaching a diverse and wide range of audiences and constituencies. DTA attracts people passionate about public service, who love to work in a fast-paced environment, and who are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. /_Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):_/ * Develop content for agency internal and external communications, including but not limited to client texts/emails, brochures, flyers, speeches, scripts, annual reports, press releases, and news articles. * Support mobile-friendly content production and track website analytics for * Maintain continual awareness of best practices and emerging trends in writing for web-based audiences, specifically as it relates to governmental entities. * Develop video content, including videos in American Sign Language (vlogs); incorporate the use of creative programs like Canva. * Create dynamic social media content. * Plan and execute agency events; write event briefings and talking points. * Use data and research to analyze the impact of communications and make evidence-based decisions to improve efforts. * Confirm the highest possible standards of accessibility for screen readers and all page elements which are not visible to accessible devices. /_Required Qualifications:_// / * Knowledge of the principles and practices of human resource management, including behavioral techniques, planning, forecasting, organizational development, etc. * Knowledge of the methods of general report writing and the ability to prepare and use charts, graphs and tables. * Ability to analyze and determine the applicability of data, to draw conclusions and make appropriate recommendations. * Ability to follow written and oral instructions and maintain accurate records. * Ability to gather information through examining records and by interviewing individuals. * Ability to determine the proper format and procedure for assembling items of information. * Ability to communicate effectively in oral expression. * Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in handling confidential information. * Ability to work independently and in a team setting. * Ability to adjust to varying or changing situations to meet emergency or changing program requirements. * Ability to coordinate the efforts of others in accomplishing assigned work activities. /_Preferred Qualifications:_/ * Knowledge of standards of accessibility for written and oral communications, including forscreen readers. * Knowledge of strategic marketing/advertising and social media. * Commitment to use strategies that support diversity and inclusion processes and practices in communication initiatives and culture. * Ability to thrive in an environment of ambiguity and constant change, managing multiple concurrent projects, setting priorities, and driving them to completion. * Excellent written, oral, and digital communication skills. * Ability to think creatively, analytically, and to work proficiently. * Ability to respond to user feedback and use data/research to make informed decisions. * Proficient usage of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook; technically savvy utilizing a variety of social media platforms. * Expertise with social media and digital media applications and best practices. * Understanding of best practices for relationship building and effective collaboration. * Time management skills with the ability to prioritize and set goals. * Knowledge of DTA programs and services. * Experience working with low-income communities. * Bilingual in English and Spanish. _TO APPLY:_ Please upload both Resume and Cover Letter.
