What You’ll Get to Do:

CACI is seeking a Mechanical Engineer responsible for researching, planning, designing, developing, modifying, and evaluating mechanical and electro-mechanical components, sub-systems, and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines, and mechanical or thermal hydraulic systems. This role involves applying knowledge of mechanics, thermodynamics, materials science, structural analysis, and manufacturing. The responsibilities include writing test procedures, compiling and evaluating design and test data, preparing technical specifications, and recommending design approaches to meet production requirements for new or improved products or processes. The Engineer will also coordinate with technical support personnel to conduct prototype and experimental runs for products/processes.

More About the Role:

  • Work individually as well as part of a small team to complete multiple replications and/or electromechanical designs and prototypes.

  • Perform reverse engineering and develop technical packages for replicated devices, including operating instructions, build instructions, testing instructions, and V&V tracking.

  • Perform prototype design from customer requirements and develop associated design and technical packages.

  • Utilize benchtop test equipment to perform verification on replicated devices and prototype designs.

  • Perform all functional duties independently.

  • Collaborate with Electronics Technician/assembler to resolve design and documentation discrepancies.

  • Collaborate with Mechanical Engineer to ensure cohesive mechanical design and integration.

  • Responsible for researching/sourcing all required components for each assigned project.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 3-5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.

  • Active Secret clearance and ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.

  • Proficiency with CAD modeling software such as Solidworks, Creo, or Fusion 360.

  • Experience with COTS multi-rotor and fixed-wing aircraft, including hobbyist UAS experience.

  • Good working knowledge and experience using hand tools.

  • Knowledge of bench-top test equipment.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Familiarity with a range of materials and components used in UAV construction, such as carbon fiber, aluminum alloys, and various power plants.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Experience with all RPV (land, air, and sea) and ability to design/fabricate with limited instructions or pre-built kits.

  • Experience designing, manufacturing, and operating multirotor and fixed-wing aircraft.

  • Hands-on experience working with fiberglass and composite materials.

The proposed salary range for this position is:

$63,300 - 129,700 USD
