At the US Army Aberdeen Test Center (ATC) within Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, Jacobs Technology employees, along with our teammate companies Caelum, SOI, eLe, and Trident ensure the weapons, vehicles, and equipment that the war fighter depends on are safe, effective and reliable.
Works independently to perform a range of digital still and digital video for assignments demanding exact renditions, normally without the opportunity for later retakes. Discusses technical requirements with operating officials or supervisor and customizes each situation according to the expected results. The photographer varies camera processes and techniques using the setting and background to produce esthetics, as well as accurate informative imagery. Typically, standard equipment is used at this level although “specialized” photography usually is performed. Typical assignments at this level; photographs machine or motor parts to show wear corrosion and failures in minute wires, gears and close spaces. Fixed objects on the ground or air-to-air objects which must be captured quickly and require directing the pilot to get the correct angle of approach for the best documentation of the test event. May independently use and assist with some special-purpose equipment, under close supervision, such as entry level, single camera, digital high-speed, for simple shots such as moving equipment or small arm firings, where available simple artificial lighting is used. Ordinarily, there is opportunity for repeats shots or for retakes if the original exposure is unsatisfactory. The imagery will be checked in progress or on completion by a senior photographer. Solves most problems through consultations with more experienced photographers, if available, or through reference sources.
3 yrs. applicable experience; or at least 60 credit hours or an Associate’s Degree and one year applicable experience; or 30 credit hours and 2 yrs. applicable experience; or completion of a formal training program and 1 yr. applicable experience.

UNUSUAL OR SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION
Takes photographs using high-speed cameras and/or digital imaging systems (up to 80%). The ability to bend/stoop, squat, crawl, reach above shoulder level, push/pull, kneel, balance and climb into or under a vehicle is required (up to 50%). Walking a minimum of 50 yards over rough terrain is required (up to 50%). The ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. is required (up to 25%).
DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work environment may be inside or outside depending on the task. The ability to work in outside field conditions that include hot and cold extreme temperatures and other outdoor climatic conditions is required (up to 75%). Must be able to work in areas where only portable restroom facilities are available (up to 25%). Work environment may be fast-paced and require work under pressure to meet deadlines associated with the completion of a task. Position will require multiple task efforts.
EQUIPMENT AND MACHINES INVOLVED IN WORK TASKS
Uses high-speed cameras and/or digital imaging systems and related triggering and lighting systems in demonstration of responsible technical experience in RDT&E visual documentation (up to 80%). May also work with FLIR systems, thermal and infrared camera systems (up to 10%). May use a computer system to color correct and organize data/images (up to 15%). The ability to work on unprotected heights, be around moving machinery/equipment, and drive auto equipment, forklifts, and other equipment with proper certifications and protective equipment.
CRITICALITY OF ATTENDANCE
Attendance is critical at all times during normal duty hours. Work outside of normal duty hours, including weekends and holidays, may be required with as little as one-hour advance notice.
OTHER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Must be able to communicate effectively. Must be able to interface with individuals at all levels of the organization. Must be able to obtain an interim secret security clearance in order to gain access to required areas, networks and systems within thirty (30) days of date of your offer letter. Must further be able to obtain and retain a secret security clearance. Must be able to provide proof of U.S. citizenship. Must be able to obtain and retain unescorted access to work areas. May receive a Class III FAA Flight Physical. May be subject to other physicals or exams if required to wear a respirator or are designated by the COR to have other physicals due to the work area in which you are assigned. May be subject to exposure to noise, radiation, vibration, lead, dusts, acids, and solvents. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment as required. Must have a valid driver’s license and personal transportation for the purpose of moving around the proving ground to accomplish job functions and in order to operate a rental vehicle if and when travel is required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a military driver’s license within 30 days of employment.
