COFMC Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in Ada, Oklahoma

POSITION TITLE: Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), with certification in Psychiatric-Mental Health

NATURE OF POSITION: The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) is an integral member of the interdisciplinary health team of Central Oklahoma Family Medical Center. The APRN provides primary care in collaboration with COFMC's physicians and acts as a resource to nursing and allied health personnel.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Registered as an ARNP currently licensed to practice in State of Oklahoma 

  • Current certification of Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (Across the Lifespan)

  • Current certification for practice from the American Nurses Credentialing Center - Commission on Certification 

  • Experience in ambulatory care setting preferred 

  • Experience in collaboration with interdisciplinary health teams 

  • Current continuing medical education (CME) and criteria for credentialing 

  • Currently licensed with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) 

  • Currently licensed with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drug (OBNDD) Control Certificate  

    RESPONSIBILITIES:   

  • Participates in the provision of first contact care and coordination of continuity of care to clients of all ages in collaboration with the center physicians. 

  • Assumes responsibility for the care of a group of clients in collaboration with the center physicians. 

  • Participates in the coordination of community agencies and/or resources in providing continuity of care. 

  • Participates in the continuing education of the nursing staff as necessary. 

  • Conducts and/or participates in-group educational experience for clients and/or families. 

  • Participates in individual client or family education or counseling activities in collaboration with other members of the medical interdisciplinary team. 

  • Participates appropriately in staff activities 

  • Elicits a chief complaint, history of present illness, patient profile, past medical history, family history and review of systems. This includes the social, economic and emotional data. 

  • Performs a physical examination using the skills of auscultation, percussion, palpation and inspection. 

  • Establishes a problem list and plan of therapy which includes teaching and counseling, ordering and performing laboratory and diagnostic tests for baseline data, diet, pharmacotherapy, activity using problem-oriented medical record system. 

  • Determines final disposition of clients in collaboration with center physicians. 

  • Makes appropriate referrals to other resources when needed. 

  • Provides follow up care for monitoring health and disease states, evaluating progress of each problem, and including patient education. 

  • Provides emergency care within limitations. 

  • Participates in clinical audit. 

  • Serves with center physicians in hospital follow-up of clients in collaboration with the other members of the medical interdisciplinary team. 

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
