COFMC Compounding Pharmacy Technician in Ada, Oklahoma

POSITION TITLE: Compounding Pharmacy Technician

DEPARTMENT: Pharmacy

NATURE OF POSITION: To provide technical support for the provision of pharmaceutical services under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Compounding Pharmacist, Pharmacist-in-Charge, and Director of Pharmacy

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

  • High School graduate or equivalent required

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Technician training or equivalent experience in a pharmacy

  • Technician permit from the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy in good standing

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

  • Communicate clearly and effectively with physicians, co-workers, patients, and the public

  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers

  • Always protects the confidentiality of patients and their records by complying with COFMC Patient Confidentiality and HIPAA policies and procedures

  • Provides excellent phone etiquette and service by stating his/her name, job title and department

  • Actively participate in agency-sponsored staff training events, (Safety instruction, evacuation drills, OSHA training, etc.)

  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to adapt to The Clinic’s needs with a positive attitude

  • Process prescriptions and solve insurance rejections and issues in a timely manner

  • Prepare dosage units for pharmacist’s review from prescriber’s orders which may include oral and topical medications

  • Input, prepare, and label, as well as verify expiration dates and lot number when applicable in coordination with prescription requirements according to Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy

  • Ensure that all medication preparation activities are verified by the pharmacist

  • Manage, order, and receive pharmacy supplies in conjunction with pharmacists

  • Demonstrate the ability to accurately mix ingredients of medications in specific quantities for needs of individual patients

  • Ability to maintain an organized environment free of contamination during the mixing process of drugs, chemicals, hazardous substances and pass inspections

  • Maintain compounding standards as set forth by USP795, USP800 and the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy

  • Performs other duties as assigned
