Job Summary:

Pratt & Whitney’s Puerto Rico is seeking a goal oriented, detail-focus Design Engineer to work on existing and next generation of commercial and military gas turbine engines. Engineer would provide analytical support for repair development and substantiation. Possible opportunities include Military and Commercial Airfoils, Rotors and Static Hardware. Design Engineer will apply scientific principles to analyze, innovate, design, develop, and implement technologies, components, sub-systems, machines, tools, and systems to ensure compliance to specifications, requirements, and customer guarantees across applicable operating conditions. Ensures novel ideas and implementations are captured and protected using applicable IP processes and tools. Based on business needs, the incumbent may be required to support other duties/functions within the company and have availability to travel up to 10%

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide analytical support through all design phase, production manufacturing and field support services.

  • Responsible design engineer for engineering changes (CLII) that lead to drawing updates/corrections implementations.

  • Responsible design engineer for investigation of engine field incidents leading to root cause and corrective action.

  • Support in the develop of serviceable and repairable limits for engine part wear Support producibility improvement investigations at various vendors. Conduct analysis and disposition of quality non-conformances (QNs) for new parts, and supplier requests for information (SRI’s).

  • Participate as an active member in cross-discipline integrated product teams to provide design solutions that balance performance, cost, schedule, and quality requirements..

  • Ability to write clear documentation, as well as to create and provide impactful, persuasive technical presentations to IPT, CIPT and customers.

  • English (read, write, speak) is required when communicating with customers, co-workers, or supervisors who only speak English.

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship.

  • 3.0 GPA requirement or 2 years of experience.

  • Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain US government security clearances.

    Preferred Qualifications: ​

  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.

  • Experience working in the Aerospace Industry.

  • Previous gas turbine experience.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, time management and organizational skills.

  • Team oriented and cultural awareness.

  • Experience with software and programing languages. MS Office, MS Excel, NX, Teamcenter and SAP4.

  • The ability to craft clear communication and build positive relationships.

Requires theoretical knowledge typically obtained through University Degree. Limited to some knowledge of RTX organization.

Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and less than 2 years prior relevant experience.Engineering/Other Technical Positions:

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
