Are you ready to go beyond?What You Will DoPratt & Whitney’s Puerto Rico is seeking a goal oriented, detail-focus Structures Engineer to work on existing and next generation of commercial and military gas turbine engines. Engineer would provide analytical support for repair development and substantiation. Possible opportunities include Military and Commercial Airfoils, Rotors and Static Hardware. Structures Engineer will apply scientific principles to analyze, innovate, design, develop, and implement technologies, components, sub-systems, machines, tools, and systems to ensure compliance to specifications, requirements, and customer guarantees across applicable operating conditions. Ensures novel ideas and implementations are captured and protected using applicable IP processes and tools. Based on business needs, the incumbent may be required to support other duties/functions within the company and have availability to travel up to 10%Provide structural support to military or commercial engine components through all Product Development Phases.Perform finite element analysis for stress, deflection, vibration, determination of low and high cycle fatigue life and residual life (fracture mechanics) prediction. Stress and life changes after repairs/ damage toleranceParticipate on multi-discipline integrated product teams as the structures focal, providing design solutions that balance customer requirements for durability, performance, cost and weightCoordinate with others new ways to advance technology and improve processes as an individual and as a team contributor. Embrace a continuous improvement philosophyDocument and present results to management and external customers.Support quality initiatives for continuous improvement using Costumer Oriented Results and Excellence operating system (CORE) tools and support AS9100 efforts.English (read, write, speak) is required when communicating with customers, co-workers, or supervisors who only speak EnglishMust be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenshipQualifications You Must HaveBachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Structural or Aerospace Engineering.5 years of engineering experience or an Advanced degree with 3 years of engineering experience.5 years of experience with Microsoft Office applicationsThe ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.Qualifications We Prefer3 years of experience with software and programing languages.
