POSITION DESCRIPTION Apply technical experience in field of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical fields, and use other technical resources within the company, to resolve complex problems. Incorporate advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes and difficult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning. Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional area(s) of technical expertise. Develop solutions to complex technical problems in fields of expertise. Keep informed on technical needs within the company and technical trends in area of expertise in the external world. Be aware of capabilities of the work group and needs of its customers. Identify technical programs which can be carried out with little guidance and take the initiative to accomplish them. Lead task teams for developing solutions to more complex problems. Prepare plans including schedules, budgets and personnel requirements for solving major technical tasks identified by management. Develop schedules, monitor progress, monitor expenditures of budget and review quality of work performed. Include research, development, testing, quality assurance requirements. SPECIFIC DUTIES Support the SRNS Nuclear & Criticality Safety Engineering organization in the development, review, and implementation of nuclear safety documentation for various facilities at the Savannah River Site. Provide technical assistance in developing and reviewing nuclear safety documents and analyses, technical safety requirements, and related technical support documentation. Ensure that the developed nuclear safety documentation complies with requirements and as necessary, applicable controls are implemented in field procedures. Conduct Nuclear Safety Program assessments, facility Readiness Assessments (RAs), and Implementation Verification Reviews (IVRs). Services shall be provided using SRNS processes and procedures. Programmatic guidance will be provided by SRNS. ​EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS An advanced degree and experience, a Ph.D. degree and about 10 years' experience. OR A MS degree and 12 years' experience. OR A BS degree and approximately 15 years' experience. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Ability to work in a diverse work environment, Considered an internal expert in area of expertise. Contributes to advancing knowledge in field of expertise through various avenues such as internal and external publications and professional society presentations. Can solve complex problems in field. Demonstrate a minimum of 15 years of recent experience in the nuclear safety industry through support of the Department of Energy (DOE) or the commercial nuclear industry. Previous experience with the use and implementation of 10 CFR 830, DOE O 425.1, DOE O 420.1, DOE-Std-3009, Technical Safety Requirements and related directives, standards and guides is required. Must demonstrate personal accountability for facility/project schedules, deadlines, budgets, and the safe performance of work. Proficient in performing Nuclear Safety Program assessments, facility readiness assessment, and Independent Implementation Verification Reviews (IVRs). Desired Qualifications Possession of an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years is preferred. Prior SRS safety basis experience. PF-81 Evaluation Criteria: ​​​​​Price and Cost to Company: 20% Technical Acceptability 80% Duration of the Contract: 1 year, 2 option periods.
