Description We are seeking a meticulous and dedicated individual for the role of Accountant - Entry Level, based in Albany, New York. This role involves assisting with the processing, review, and payment of grant projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This is a short-term contract employment opportunity.
Responsibilities:
• Provide technical assistance to various departments and subrecipients as the office fiscal contact for select State and/or federally funded grant programs.
• Develop and maintain tables, charts, spreadsheets, and reports using various reporting tools to compile data related to grants and grant-funded activities from multiple sources.
• Review, analyze, and process fiscal transactions in the Department’s grant payment system and/or the Statewide Financial System.
• Assist with the assembly and maintenance of control documents for each funded program including appropriations, period of availability, and lapse/liquidation dates.
• Conduct additional cash management review of select claims submitted for payment.
• Provide written technical assistance in response to email inquiries sent to the office email account.
• Assist with meeting federal reporting requirements on grants and grant-funded activities, as required, under the Federal Funding and Accountability and Transparency Act.
• Perform other duties as assigned, maintaining a high level of professionalism and adhering to company policies and procedures at all times. Requirements • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
• Experience in financial documentation and procedures
• Familiarity with financial policy and internal control oversight
• Ability to conduct auditing and financial statement preparation
• Experience with pricing, claim administration, and credit management
• Proficiency in using spreadsheets, creating charts and graphs
• Knowledge in finance, fiscal management, and grant management
• Ability to conduct cash flow analysis and cash management
• Experience with consolidations and financial system management
• Ability to provide technical assistance and direct supervision when necessary
• Knowledge in finance-related software and tools
