DEPARTMENT: Albany County Water Purification DistrictSALARY : $53,250 - $56,649HOURS: 40 per Week, M - FBENEFITS:► Paid Time-Off ► Tuition Reimbursement ► NYS Retirement► Health, Dental, Vision and Hearing ► Employee Assistance ProgramRESPONSIBILITIES:Employee in this class is responsible for performing a variety of semi- skilled tasks required for the maintenance of facilityvehicles, buildings and grounds. Maintenance work to include but not limited to general mechanical, automotive, andproperty maintenance duties of various County facilities. The work is performed under supervision of the Chief Maintenance Mechanic or Superintendent of Operations with a considerable degree of independence in diagnosing problems,scheduling work and initiating necessary tasks. Supervision may be exercised over subordinate employees assigned to.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Graduation from high school, possession of a high school equivalency diploma, or a high school individual education plan diplomaAND two (2) years of experience in general facility and automotive maintenance.SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:Possession of a valid New York State Driver’s License and the ability to maintain it continuously thereafterCandidates will not have to take an exam for this title. This is a Hiring Emergency Limited Placement (HELP) Program-designated title. The HELP Program is a temporary program designed to help local government employers addresscurrent staffing issues. Traditionally, the titles filled under the HELPProgram required job candidates to compete in a competitive exam to be considered for employment. For the duration ofthe program, this title will be classified as non-competitive and categorized as a “HELP Program” position. At the close ofthe program, this position will revert to competitive class status. Employees occupying positions filled through the HELP Program will be granted competitive class status without the need to participate in a competitive exam.
