A bachelor's or higher-level degree in computer science, computer information systems, telecommunications, or management information systems.2. OR - A bachelor's or higher-level degree, including or supplemented by 15 credit hours in computer science courses.3. OR - A bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field and at least one year of the experience described below.4. OR - A minimum of 60 college semester credit hours including at least 15 credit hours in computer science courses and one year of the experience described below.5. OR - A total of two years of experience as described below.Experience must be in the following computer related areas: network, server, storage, and systems management; telecommunications; IT customer support and training; computer installation, diagnosis and repair; technical writing; computer security; knowledge management; database administration, design and management; internet/intranet development, design, and maintenance; information technology project management; design and development of geographic information systems or computer aided drafting applications; computer programming; business/systems analysis; program design; or program testing.Competitive Minimum Qualifications: You must be currently reachable on the appropriate eligible list for this title, eligible under the 55 b/c program, or eligible to transfer to this title under Section 52.6 and/or 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. Duties Description • Perform daily administration of Oracle database environments including, but not limited to, monitoring systems and taking corrective action.• Ensure systems are current with Oracle releases and patches.• Troubleshoot issues to ensure timely resolution for customers.• Implement proper database design, backups, statistics, index reorganization, etc.• Prioritize assignments to ensure deadlines are met and timelines are adhered to.• Prepare and review complex technical requirements ensuring they are comprehensively written, and requirements can be fully met.• Serve on various committees related to information technology and user requirements.• Assist management with research and special projects.• Create and review software and procedural documentation.

Additional Comments The Office of the New York State Comptroller (OSC) supports telecommuting where it is reasonable to do so based upon the agency’s mission and operational needs. Generally, employees new to OSC will be restricted from telecommuting for at least 8 calendar weeks. After the initial 8 calendar week restriction, if an employee’s duties and work performance are aligned with telecommuting they may be allowed to do so.
