National Grid Lead Program Manager, Project Management in Albany, New York
National Grid is hiring a Lead Program Manager for our Distribution Planning and Asset Management department in Albany, NY

Our Non-Wires Alternative (NWA) program works with National Grid's distribution planning and asset management engineers to develop opportunities to deploy "non-wires" solutions like energy efficiency, demand response, energy storage, distributed generation, and other distributed energy resources to defer the need to make capital improvements to our distribution system.
The NWA Program Manager will be assigned several potential NWA projects and will be responsible for working with distribution planning engineers, financial analysts, and procurement to manage the screening, competitive bid process, solution selection, and solution development of successful projects.
- Understand and develop comprehensive technical scopes for potential non-wires projects.
- Provide comprehensive project management for multiple NWA projects including but not limited to managing the following tasks: multi-functional team coordination, opportunity screening, Request for Proposal (RFP) development, benefit/cost analysis, vendor selection, schedule and budget oversight, management of contractors, data management/data transfer process, issue resolution, reportingand closeout of project upon completion, and aftercare post-installation.
- Participate in regulatory filing activities including filing development, providing testimony, and responding to information requests.
- Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Manage third party agreements on operational projects.
- Ensure lessons learned are implemented across projects through continuous improvement.
- Develop and maintain a solid understanding of the business by staying abreast of industry trends, and learning and sharing best practices.

- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- A track record of sound decision making and developing working relationships quickly and efficiently across all levels of the organization.
- Excellent communications and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Bachelors degree in Engineering preferred or the equivalent experience in utility/energy sector
- Five plus years professional experience in engineering or project management in the utility/energy space
- Strong project management skills, including demonstrated capability to manage to project scope, schedule and budget milestone on complicated projects
- Experience drafting successful Requests for Proposal (RFPs) and working with benefit/cost analysis
- Familiarity with energy efficiency, demand response, energy storange and distributed generation; willingness to work with subject matter experts
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites
- Professional Engineer license, EIT, CEM and or professional certification in energy are an asset
- Time management, leadership and team building skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and support interdisciplinary project team to achieve target goals and objectives
- Great interpersonal and written/oral communications skills
- Ability to support development of regulatory filings, interfacing with National Grid rates, legal and other departments.
Salary: $114,000 - $134,000
This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Internal candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
