Minimum Qualifications Non-Competitive Minimum Qualifications Under the NY HELPS Program:License and current registration to practice psychology in New York State. Transfer Opportunity:Candidates must have permanent service as a Licensed Psychologist, Grade 25, and be eligible for lateral transfer; OR be eligible to transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law by having at least one year of permanent service in a qualifying title within two salary grades of the Grade 25 level.

Duties Description The Office of Mental Health (OMH) is recruiting to fill a Licensed Psychologist, G-25, position in the Division of Forensic Services (DFS), Diversion Center. The Diversion Center’s mission is to support jurisdictions in the development, implementation, evaluation and replication of initiatives to the reduce arrest and incarceration of persons with serious mental illness (SMI). The general services provided by the Diversion Center are the assessment of local resources, current practices, and gaps in services through sequential intercept mapping; researching, training and technical assistance for the identification and diversion of justice-involved mentally ill individuals from incarceration; and researching, training and technical assistance to develop and sustain Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) programs in communities throughout NYS. The Licensed Psychologist will serve as the clinical lead for the Diversion Center, providing clinical leadership and oversight for the Center. Specific duties to be performed may include, but are not limited to, the following: Provide clinical consultation to local diversion programs, including individuals identified through the Research and Evaluation Unit and the Aligning to Build Lasting Engagement (ABLE) Team.Develop and implement individualized plans to sustain engagement with mental health services and/or reduce the likelihood of re-engagement with the criminal justice system.Provide clinical supervision and direction to Diversion Center staff and all Diversion Center initiatives.Provide ongoing collaboration, clinical expertise, and support to staff and local diversion programs on complex clinical cases.Partner with the Court-Based Mental Health Navigators to address clinical barriers to treatment engagement and/or connection to services.Collaborate with law enforcement, the court system, and community partners to ensure effective diversion programming and services. Coordinate with the Research and Evaluation Unit Director to monitor and evaluate program outcomes and contribute to continuous quality improvement. Lead the development and implementation of evidence-based clinical practices for the Diversion Center.

While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
