Candidates must possess a current 55b/c eligibility letter and the following minimum qualifications:1) Have a bachelor’s or higher level degree in any field including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science AND four years of experience in the following computer related areas, including one year of supervisory experience in: computer programming, network, server, storage, and systems management; telecommunications, IT customer support and training; computer installation, diagnosis, and repair; technical writing; computer security; knowledge management; database administration, design and management; internet/intranet development, design, and maintenance; information technology project management; design and development of geographic information systems or computer aided drafting applications; computer programming; business/systems analysis; program design; or program testing; OR2) Have a bachelor’s or higher-level degree in any field AND five years of experience in computer related areas as described in #1 above; OR3) Have an associate’s degree* with 15 semester credit hours in a computer science field AND six years of experience in computer related areas as described in #1 above; OR4) Seven years of experience in computer related areas as described in #1 above.Definition: For the purposes of this examination, Supervisory Experience is defined as the responsibility for assigning work and overseeing subordinate staff or project(s) in an Information Technology (IT) environment.Candidates who have completed at least 60 college semester hours in a bachelor’s degree program, including at least 15 semester credit hours in a computer science field, also qualify, but must meet the experience requirements as described in #2.Provisional Appointment: In the absence of an eligible list with three or more candidates willing to accept a position, a temporary provisional appointment may be considered. Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s (NYSED) Office of Information Technology Services is seeking candidates for a Manager of Information Technology Services 1 position. Reporting to the Manager Information Technology Services 2, the Manager Information Technology Services 1 will oversee the Low-Code Development Unit. This unit constructs, implements, and supports low code development initiatives and other related information technology components that are crucial to the overall implementation and operations of low code solutions that enable the organization to deliver business solutions in a faster and more sustainable way. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:• Supervise the day-to-day activities and staff deployed in the Low Code Development Unit, ensuring tasks align with project timelines, delivery schedules, and quality standards; • Manage the implementation roadmap, application releases, software changes, defect fix cycles, and application enhancements for low code solutions; • Encourage innovation within the team by exploring new features and capabilities of low code platforms that can improve development processes, user experiences, or business outcomes; • Oversee the resolution of technical, operational, and project-related issues as they arise, applying problem-solving skills and strategic thinking to minimize disruptions to the low code implementation process; • Ensure all low code development activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies, particularly regarding data security, privacy, and governance; • Collaborate with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, and other information technology teams to gather requirements, align priorities, and ensure low code solutions meet business needs and integrate seamlessly with existing systems; • Manage the growth and development of the low code implementation team, including resource allocation, performance management, and professional development, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement; • Establish and maintain partnerships with low code platform vendors, staying up-to-date with product roadmaps, new features, and industry trends to maximize the value of low code investments; and• Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a permanent appointment or a temporary provisional appointment. Provisional candidates must take the examination for Manager Information Technology Services 1 when it is next offered and must be reachable on the resulting eligible list to maintain employment. For 55b/c appointment, candidates must possess the minimum qualifications, a current 55b/c eligibility letter and is subject to verification of applicant eligibility. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. Candidates should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits. Verification of degree and experience will be required at the time of interview for all candidates. This position leads to a maximum salary of $127,830 based on annual performance advances.
