Oracle Senior Optical Engineer - AI Infrastructure in Albany, New York
Job Description
Supports the design, deployment, and operations of a large-scale global Oracle cloud computing environment (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - OCI). Primarily focused on development and support of network fabric and systems through a combination of a deep level understanding of networking at the protocol level coupled with programming skills to support the intensive automation required to operate a production environment. As OCI is a cloud-based network with a global footprint, this support will include hundreds of thousands of network devices supporting millions of servers, connected over a mix of dedicated backbone infrastructure and the Internet.

Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities:
Collaborate with cross-functional Oracle engineering teams ((hardware, software, test engineering, manufacturing) )in the deployment and validation of high-speed optical transceivers (short reach to long haul), fiber optic components, passive optical components and fiber assemblies.
Perform testing and validation of optical transceivers and passive fiber components
Coordinate with qualification teams, develop and execute comprehensive test plans to evaluate performance.
Conduct failure analysis, root cause investigations for issues and reliability studies
Stay abreast of the latest advancements in optical technology, industry trends, and emerging standards (IEEE, OIF, and industry MSAs.)
Support source selection teams, perform vendor due diligence, test and qualify new products for deployment
Qualifications:
Bachelors or Master's degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Physics.
Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in the testing and validation of optical transceivers, lasers, receivers, fiber optic components, and passive optical components.
Solid understanding of optical communication principles, including modulation formats, fiber optics, lasers, optical receivers, and link budgets.
3+ years of hands-on experience with high-speed electrical test and measurement equipment and test methodologies
Understanding of cloud infrastructure, server and switch platforms
Familiarity with industry standards (IEEE), MSAs and transceiver form factors and features.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of high-speed optical interconnect technologies (100G, 400G, 800G, etc.).
Knowledge of transceivers, optical assemblies, lasers and detectors.
Familiarity with semiconductor and optical reliability analysis methods

US: Hiring Range: from $74,800 to $178,200 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
