POSITION: Guest Services Representative-PT

DEPARTMENT: Operations

REPORTS TO: Operations Director

FLSA STATUS: Part-time/On call, hourly, Non-Exempt

Summary

The Guest Services Attendant is responsible for the safety of all guests, employees, and contract labor while on premises; securing the property and providing assistance to our guests by performing the following duties as directed by the Operations Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Patrol assigned locations, stationary and mobile.

  • Conducts routine property walk through, lock and unlock facility doors, as directed.

  • Works independently, judges and assesses situations for immediate response.

  • Secures property from damage, theft and vandalism.

  • Courteously investigates persons who are suspicious or out of place.

  • Respond to emergencies, incidents, accidents and request for service as required.

  • Maintain records, logs, databases, filing systems, and other necessary records/forms

  • Performs duties in the control center as assigned; dispatch security via radio; answer telephones; monitor surveillance cameras; maintain 24 hour incident log; notify chain of command in matters of serious nature.

  • Courteously answer questions and gives direction to Convention Center guests.

  • Attend to the Convention Center Parking Garage:

  • Assist patrons with parking and automated system

  • Maintain order in parking lot

  • Assure patrons park in designated spots

  • Control traffic that enters/exits the garage

  • Collect parking fees

Qualifications

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Must have the ability to work harmoniously in a team setting exhibiting excellent customer service to fellow workers, guests, clients and the community.

  • Intermediate computer skills (i.e.: Microsoft Office suite).

  • Requires ability to work flexible hours, and potential to cover for other shifts in addition to normal working hours.

Education and Work Experience

  • High school diploma or GED certificate; or any combination of education and experience which would provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to meet the minimum qualifications to perform the essential functions of this position.

  • 6 months to 1 year of security experience, preferably in a similar environment.

  • Valid Driver’s License required.

Other Qualifications

  • Occasional sitting, focusing on and operating a personal computer several times a day.

  • Daily sitting, focusing on and operating a personal computer or terminal keyboard to enter data for over 60 minutes at a time.

  • Ability to read printed words and numbers in printed form and on computer/terminal monitor.

  • Communicate by telephone for up to 30 minutes at a time on a daily basis.

  • Stand several times a day for up to five minutes to operate photocopier, FAX machine.

  • Hearing sufficient to clearly hear voices, alarms, bells and horns.

  • Performing work through repetitive eye/hand coordination.

  • Daily lifting up to 25 lbs. Up to 5 minutes at a time. Daily carrying up to 25 lbs. up to 5 minutes at a time.

  • Ability to distinguish color.

  • Daily standing for up to 15 minutes at a time operating office equipment such as FAX, printer or photocopier.

  • See and distinguish objects or symbols as 20 feet or more and 20 inches or less. Depth perception, peripheral vision and bringing objects into focus.

  • Write using pen/pencil or personal computer keyboard for up to 30 minutes at a time on a daily basis.

  • Climbing staircases multiple times per day as needed to complete daily patrols and assist guests/clients.

  • Constant standing, walking, stooping.

  • Equipment used and necessary, i.e.: PC or terminal, printer, fax, photocopier, telephone, radio frequency terminals, carts, dolly.

  • Requires ability to work flexible hours, and potential to cover for other shifts in addition to normal working hours.

  • Exposure to the potential adverse weather conditions; duties involve both indoors and outdoors working environment.

  • Ability to stand and walk throughout the duration of an assigned shift.

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds assisted with lifting devices, (i.e.: cart, dolly)
