What Your Job Will Be Like:
The Enterprise Network Services organization is seeking a Network Engineer with a solid understanding of networking, firewalls, WAN/LAN technologies and communication protocols. The individual must bring their own knowledge and expertise to design, implement, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot networks. This includes routers, switches and firewalls.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Design and implement corporate enterprise or direct mission network architectures
Maintain smooth operation of corporate enterprise or direct mission network communication systems
Evaluate and report on new communications technologies, as well as recommend viable solutions to improve the capabilities of the network
Develop and plan network installation, testing and troubleshooting procedures
Work with customers to elicit, analyze, define, and document requirements
Perform regular network performance and tuning
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.
Salary Range:
$70,200 - $135,400
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management of Information Systems, Information Assurance or a related field; or equivalent (AS + 4 years or no degree + 8 years)
Experience with network communication protocols, such as TCP/IP, HTTPS, IPSec, or SNMP, etc.
Experience with LAN/WAN equipment, such as routers, switches, and network tools
Experience with IPv4 and IPv6 implementation
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance
Qualifications We Desire:
Understanding of various IT systems such as hardware, operating systems, networking, virtualization, and other technologies
Experience designing, documenting, implementing, troubleshooting, and managing enterprise network infrastructures
Ability to interpret new business requirements and propose suitable architecture changes
Experience working with Ansible and various networking technologies in an unclassified and a classified environment
Strong oral, written and interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in diverse team environments to resolve network-centric issues
Knowledgeable of network virtualization and SDN
Familiar with network equipment such as Juniper, Cisco, Palo Alto, Arista and Extreme
Familiarity with development (Python, Git)
An active DOE Q or DOD TS clearance

NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
Position Information:
This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.
Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
