Become a Network Operations Center (NOC), Senior Specialist at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a future where we transform the way we think about energy. In this role, you’ll be a member of the Grid Security Operations Center (GSOC) organization unit responsible for Event & Incident Management of SCE’s IT/OT infrastructure. 

We are seeking a dedicated, hard-working Network Operations Center (NOC) Senior Specialist to join our team.

The NOC is responsible for first-line response, real-time monitoring, and resolution of issues. You will bring your professional experience working in a 24/7 NOC environment, applying industry-standard tools for diagnostics, issue tracking, communication, and documentation of fault detection, response, and resolution to meet or exceed service level agreements (SLAs). You are a technical professional that can communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical staff at all levels, including senior management. We are looking for a team member that is comfortable in operating in a fast-paced environment, embraces diverse team dynamics, and can effectively manage changing priorities.

_The primary function is providing IT service availability through restoration of normal service operations as quickly and efficiently as possible.  _

  • Perform real-time monitoring and triage of network, security, and compute & storage infrastructure supporting critical grid operational technologies (OT)

  • Minimize adverse impact to the business including our Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) application and infrastructure portfolio

  • Escalating incidents to Tier 3 organization units or support teams for further diagnosis 

  • Communicating with clients by delivering incident progress updates and impending changes and outages 

  • Preventing disruptions to service through proactive event monitoring of Grid and IT enterprise systems 

  • Maintaining an awareness of constant change occurring in the IT network, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and application areas to facilitate the identification, analysis, and resolution of potential problems before they are visible to internal clients

  • Upholding client satisfaction by meeting established service level agreements 

  • Partnering with technology owners to develop process and tools to maintain and align with our support model 

The essentials

  • Five (5) or more years of overall experience working as an IT professional in fields such as help desk, desktop support, system administration, network operations center (NOC), or a related field

  • Three (3) or more years of hands-on experience across routing & switching, network security (firewalls), and/or infrastructure monitoring & management tools

  • This role requires being assigned any shift including working weekends and holidays as needed to support a 24/7/365 operation

The preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree in specialized field, business, technical, or related discipline

  • Industry certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Nokia Network Routing Specialist (NRS), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Palo Alto Networks certifications

  • Strong proficiency with the following networking protocols\: OSPF, ISIS, BGP, EIGRP

  • Experience managing, troubleshooting, and configuring rules & policies on firewalls

  • Experience with network & security management and performance tools such as SolarWinds, DX NetOps, Netscout, Forescout, Splunk

  • Experience with IT Service Management (ITSM) solutions such as ServiceNow, BMC Helix, JIRA

  • This position’s work mode is on-site. The employee will report to an SCE facility or in the field location. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

  • The primary work location for this position is Alhambra, CA. However, the successful candidate may also be asked to work at Rosemead, CA or Irvine, CA from time to time.

  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
