Amentum Fire Technician - Alarm Systems in Alice Springs, Australia

Fire Technician – Alarm Systems functions as a key member of a multi-skilled team to safely and effectively maintain facility infrastructure and critical systems at the site. This role provides a professional service in the execution of technical repair and maintenance of all assigned facility fire alarm equipment. This includes elements of planning, organization, coordination, scheduling and resource management associated with the day-to-day maintenance of the facility fire alarm systems.

The Fire Technician – Alarm Systems is primarily responsible for the efficient and timely completion of fire system maintenance tasks, identification of deficiencies and repairs as required.

Operating within a small team of technicians, you will be expected to contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, supporting the implementation of initiatives and technical advancement. Fire Technician – Alarm Systems role will suit individuals that are able to think on their feet, respond to changes in assignment based on site needs and complete assigned tasks to a high standard.

This position works closely with the Facilities Operations Team, other Facilities Maintainers and OASIS departments to enable reliable, consistent and effective maintenance and operation of facility systems.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Inspection, testing and maintenance of fire systems and associated infrastructure in accordance with applicable standards

Repairs and installation to associated fire systems and infrastructure.

Programming of Notifier system

Work with operational and maintenance personnel to coordinate life safety system impairments as required for repairs, maintenance and new installations.

Maintain a complete and current working understanding of all relevant facilities infrastructure, equipment and systems.

Inspection of fire extinguishers

Instructing and training of site incident response personnel in the operation of the life safety systems as it applies to their duties.

Ensure, promote, and maintain health and safety practices/compliances at site and within the workplace.

Any other reasonable duties as requested

QUALIFICATIONS

  • NICET II or III – Fire Alarm Systems

  • Strong understanding of Work Health Safety (WHS) Act, and EHS policies & procedures

  • Demonstrated understanding and experience working within Facility Maintenance or similar technical environment

  • Strong understanding and knowledge of technical terminology relating to Electrical infrastructure and electronic equipment

  • Strong understanding of facilities equipment and functionality

  • Strong understanding of facilities O&M requirements

  • Strong understanding of equipment maintenance requirements (preventive, predictive, & corrective)

  • NICET I or II - Fire Alarm Systems

  • NICET I or II - Inspection and Testing of Water Based Systems

  • Experience with Notifier systems

  • Trade qualification

  • Enterprise Resource Planning experience. (SAP, Archibus etc.)

  • Microsoft Office Suite experience

TICKETS AND LICENCES

  • Driver’s License

  • Working at Heights

  • First Aid/CPR

  • Current Driver’s License

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • 2 years’ experience in similar role

  • Experience with diverse range of fire systems and suppression equipment highly regarded

WORK ENVIRONMENT, PHYSICAL DEMANDS, AND METAL DEMANDS

  • Personnel are required to be medically fit to work and safely complete all physical tasks associated with the role in which they are employed. This includes but is not limited to being able to carry and control moderate to heavy loads and being able to safely traverse and access maintenance environments which may be uneven or cramped.

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT

It is a condition of employment that employees obtain and retain the appropriate level of security clearance and medical clearance applicable to each role. The employee will require a Top-Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) Department of Defence Security Clearance (Australian) or TS/SCI (U.S.) clearance w/ Poly.

STATEMENT OF WORK REQUIREMENTS

All personnel assigned shall be:

  • At least 18 years of age.

  • Able to fluently read, write and speak English

EHS REQUIREMENT

All Amentum personnel are responsible for understanding and complying with all site environmental, health and safety requirements. While OASIS is responsible for providing a safe workplace and is responsible for ensuring compliance with requirements of the EHS Handbook, each person is responsible for:

  • Completing work task in a safe manner

  • Reporting any unsafe acts or conditions to their supervisor and/or OASIS PMO/EHS Manager

  • Continuous adherence to the environmental, health and safety procedures outlined in the EHS Handbook during the performance of their work

  • Red-Carding a Job - Employee right and responsibility to “STOP WORK” if a job is unsafe or possess a danger to the environment.
