St. Luke's University Health Network Zone Mechanic - Full Time - Evenings in Allentown, Pennsylvania

The Zone Mechanic inspects, tests, maintains, installs, repairs and modifies systems, equipment and structure.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inspects, tests, maintains, installs, repairs and modifies systems, equipment and structure according to specifications.

  • Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and systems as scheduled. Works with supervisor in establishing new preventive maintenance routines and modifying the existing ones.

  • Performs work in accordance with local, state and national code compliance and reports violations directly to management personnel in maintenance department. Uses hand, power and technical related tools.

  • Keeps tools and equipment clean and in good working condition.

  • Records and maintains daily records of accomplishments in a legible fashion to insure proper procedures are fulfilled and properly recorded.

  • Performs emergency repairs as directed by Coordinator/Director of Facilities.

  • Provides all necessary information to initiate requisitions to complete scheduled work if equipment is needed.

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Standing up to 8 hours per day, walking up to 4 hours per day, and sitting for extended periods up to 2 hours per day. Lifting up to 60 lbs., pushing up to 300 lbs., bending, crouching, reaching, twisting, and climbing stairs and vertical ladders up to 20 feet. Seeing as it relates to normal vision, hearing as it relates to normal hearing. Manual dexterity to make equipment repairs, handle tools, supplies, equipment, etc.

EDUCATION:

High school graduate or equivalent is preferred; technical or trade school diploma preferred.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Three years’ experience in hospital facility maintenance preferred. Computer entry skills required.
