Citigroup Operational Risk Intermediate Analyst in Almaty, Kazakhstan

Team/Role Overview

Through managing the day-to-day processes, Citi’s Kazakhstan Risk & Control team plays a pivotal role in supporting Citi’s mission. We are seeking an Operational Risk Intermediate Analyst to join our dynamic team. Your jo will be focused on Risk and Control tasks.

The Operational Risk Intermediate Analyst deals with most problems independently and has some latitude to solve complex problems. Integrates in-depth specialty area knowledge with a solid understanding of industry standards and practices. You will typically deal with variable issues with potentially broader business impact and apply professional judgment when interpreting data and results.

What you’ll do

  • Perform periodical reviews of established operational processes to ensure compliance with country procedures and global policies, to report on Operational Risk findings, to document and/or assist unit’s heads on Corrective Action Plan (CAP) for management of control issues.

  • Provide governance and oversight of next teams: Funds Transfers Unit, Currency Control Team, Trade Operations, Card Operations, Client Experience Team, Client Onboarding Team, Markets Operations and Custody Operations.

  • Ensures appropriate remedial actions are in place where deficiencies are identified.

  • Contribute to risk assessments and drive actions to address the root causes that persistently lead to operational risk losses by challenging both historical and proposed practices.

  • Work closely together with global/regional/local colleagues and participate in international calls.

  • Ensure smooth running of the business of own and related teams by ensuring high quality and timeliness of the provided service

What we’ll need from you

  • Previous work in Citibank Operations or Risk area is highly expected.

  • Good knowledge of English, clear and concise written and verbal communication skills to be able to participate in international calls, properly understand tasks.

  • Developed communication and diplomacy skills in order to exchange potentially complex/sensitive information.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively and with people at all levels of the organization.

  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).

  • Ability to both work collaboratively and independently; ability to navigate a complex organization.

  • Project management skills, analytical skills, high attention to details.

  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize and adapt to change, ability to temporarily replace Head of Risk & Control team.
