Colonial Pipeline is the largest refined products pipeline in the United States, transporting more than 100 million gallons or 2.5 million barrels per day. Colonial transports various grades of gasoline, diesel fuel, home heating oil, jet fuel, and fuels for the U.S. military through a pipeline system. Colonial transports approximately 45 percent of all fuel consumed on the East Coast, providing refined products to more than 50 million Americans.

About the Senior Cloud DevOps Engineer Position

As a Senior Cloud DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining our DevOps processes and tools, ensuring the continuous delivery of our infrastructure and software products. In this role, you will effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the success of the cloud-based initiatives. The Senior Cloud DevOps Engineer will also work with development, operations, and security teams to streamline the software development lifecycle.

What You Get to Do:

  • Create infrastructure as code (IaC) leveraging tools such as Terraform or Ansible to provision in GCP

  • Ensure the secure handling of secrets and credentials in the codebase, adhering to best practices for security and compliance.

  • Work in highly regulated environments, ensuring that all solutions meet stringent security and compliance related standards.

  • Automate processes to improve efficiency and reliability of deployment and operations.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate DevOps methodologies into their workflows.

  • Stay updated with emerging trends and technologies in DevOps, cloud computing, and cybersecurity.

  • Drive the adoption of containerization strategies such as Kubernetes and Docker. ensuring the efficient deployment and scaling of applications.

  • Analysis and proposals for enhancements to enterprise environment.

  • Aid in the implementation of enterprise security solutions.

  • Follows change management and change notification procedures.

  • Provides infrastructure training and mentoring to junior support personnel.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, in a related field of study; will consider a combination of education and/ or experience.

  • Ideally, 5+ years of experience with Terraform and other IaC tools.

  • Experience in managing secrets and sensitive data in code in a secure manner.

  • Strong understanding of process automation and implementing CI/CD pipelines.

  • Solid knowledge of cost optimization strategies for cloud services.

  • Commitment to consistently adhere to policies and procedures and be a positive example for others by demonstrating the Company’s core values of Respect, Accountability, Innovation, Safety, and Excellence in completing work assignments.

  • Self-motivated, have phenomenal work ethic and looking for the right company to support your growth.

  • Degree in Computer Science from an accredited college or university.

  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Experience monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack).

  • Applicable professional certification such as, Cloud Engineer, GCP: Cloud Network Engineer, or Cloud DevOps Engineer.

  • Strong understanding of microservices architecture and serverless technologies.
