YMCA OF STEVENS POINT WIS AREA INC Camp Lifeguard in AMHERST JUNCTION, Wisconsin
JOB REQUIREMENTS: YMCA Camp Glacier Hollow, in Central Wisconsin, offers safe, fun, resident overnight and day camps for youth, fostering growth and development. Camp Lifeguards will be responsible for running and maintaining safety during all waterfront-related program activities and swim periods. Camp Lifeguards will also be responsible for maintenance and cleanliness of waterfront supplies and waterfront area, inspecting and reporting any safety concerns, and leading and coordinating all safety procedures. Additional responsibilities may include supporting overall camp programs, teaching camp and environmental education activities, kitchen support, general facility cleanliness, and other duties as determined by the Waterfront Director and/or Camp Director. WORK SCHEDULE: The Stevens Point Area YMCA has a full schedule of programs during the summer months, including programs that continue on some weekends and holidays. Typical schedule for Camp Lifeguard is 20-30 hours a week, Sunday-Friday, with flexibility and may include day, evening, some overnight and weekend times. A schedule will be arranged in advance. Positions will be filled as qualified applicants are identified. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: A valid driver\'s license, CPR and first aid, and lifeguarding certifications required. Waterfront Skills preferred. WSI certification a plus. Preference will be given to applicants who have completed college course work or a degree in camp management, environmental education, education, recreation or related fields. Previous leadership experience and/or desire to work with youth and teens is required. Must be a positive role-model, flexible, energetic, dedicated and a responsible team player. Some online pre-camp training may be required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to lead and participate along with groups of campers in various physical activities and in various indoor/outdoor settings. Such activities include traditional camp activities, canoeing, teambuilding, swimming, and other sports and activities.
