Your role at Clorox:

The purpose of the Technical Process Operator (Rotary Dept.) role is to control, operate, and maintain multiple pieces of high-speed bag making production equipment. Safely and efficiently conduct changeovers and troubleshoot process and equipment problems and performs machine adjustments which directly affect quality, output, and scrap levels. Performs all tasks in a safe manner and report all potential safety hazards to the plant safety manager, and/or management. Monitor equipment and process conditions and works to ensure that quality and efficiency standards are consistently maintained. May perform and/or lead others in equipment inspection, maintenance and improvement projects. Responsible for the department’s success in Safety, Quality, Cost, OEE and equipment maintenance.

In this role, you will:

  • Perform required frequent scheduled quality checks on finished bags through specified and detailed quality control procedures throughout each shift.

  • Process daily loose scrap materials using specified procedures.

  • Troubleshoot equipment and process failures and complete some minor mechanical repairs.

  • Perform routine and unique mechanical and maintenance tasks to remove deposits from equipment and parts.

  • As needed, remove or replace various large and small pieces of equipment using hand tools.

  • Thread plastic film through production equipment.

  • Clear bag and carton jams inside and outside equipment housings, which may be done manually or with the assistance of tools.

  • Enter quality and production data into computer systems.

  • Manually operate packaging equipment, including occasional hand stacking of cartons and cases of finished products onto pallets or staging platforms.

  • Conduct equipment set-up changes through removing, modifying, adjusting, and/or installing parts.

  • Perform process changes or adjustments to ensure the production of high-quality finished products.

  • Keep raw materials, commodities, cartons, cases, and glue stocked during production periods.

  • Perform daily and other periodic housekeeping and work area organization tasks.

  • Maintain and update departmental equipment and production performance metrics and reports.

  • Communicate daily with peers and managers on departmental performance and issues as it relates to safety, quality, production, and other departmental metrics and resource needs.

  • May be required to perform team coordination activities related to team safety, quality, production scheduling or other core business functions.

  • Accurately complete all required paperwork in a timely manner.

  • Complete all required training in a timely manner.

  • Complete other routine and unique tasks and projects as assigned.

What we look for:

  • Ability to tolerate sustained standing/walking up to 10 hours a day, for up to 7 consecutive days.

  • Ability to perform occasional to frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to utilize good eye-hand coordination.

  • Ability to perform occasional bending and squatting.

  • Ability to tolerate kneeling and/or crawling in small and confined spaces.

  • Ability to tolerate exposure to non-weather related hot temperatures.

  • Ability to use coordination and dexterity in fingers while wearing protective gloves.

  • Ability to push/pull material weighing up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to frequently climb and descend stairs.

  • Ability to reach to floor level, overhead and forward to work on machines.

  • Must be at least 18 years old.

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.

  • Ability to understand instructions, work procedures, reason and make judgments, problem solve, plan, coordinate, and direct own work while coping with a variety of duties and expectations.

  • Ability to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays, for up to 7 consecutive days.

  • Ability to work occasional mandatory overtime shifts.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and distinctly (oral and written) with peers and supervisors.

  • Ability to perform effectively under stressful conditions, prioritizing job duties while working with team members.

  • Ability to work occasionally at multiple-story elevations.

  • Ability to problem solve, making decisions quickly without direct supervision.
