St. Mary's Healthcare Administrative Director - Laboratory in Amsterdam, New York
Job Requisition: REQ3015 Employment Type: Full time Shift: Days Hours Per Week: 40 hours
Hiring range: $108,596.80- $149,572.80
The actual compensation for this position will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
Responsibilities:
In conjunction with the Laboratory Medical Director, and COO:
Directs, and establishes policies, procedures, and protocols.
Manages financial operations of the laboratory service including expense and revenue analysis,capital, and budget planning, and evaluation of services and development activities.
Plans, organizes, and directs all activities related to staffing which may include hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions and continuing education initiatives.
Determines and justifies need for equipment purchases, adheres to policies regarding equipment.
Purchases, monitors equipment installations, and validations, and oversees proper working order of equipment.
Responsible for monitoring quality of lab, including test performance, turnaround time, and accreditation compliance.
Actively participates in laboratory quality and safety programs.
Actively participates, and represents the laboratory service at SMH Committee Meetings.
Holds meetings with laboratory supervisor, and department leads/coordinators so that staff can be informed of initiatives within the laboratory, and organization.
Additional Responsibilities:
Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Performs clinical operations tasks as needed to support the smooth functioning of the laboratories, such as maintenance, procedure set-up, and documentation as competency allows.

Education:
- Bachelor's degree preferred; Master’s degree highly desired. 5+ years as a laboratory manager/supervisor required. Previous experience as a laboratory director preferred. Experience with regulatory oversight required
Certifications / Licensure Required Credential(s):
- Clinical Laboratory Technologist credentialed from the NYSED obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Preferred Credential(s):
- Medical Technologist (ASCP) credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) Medical Tech credentialed from the American Medical Technologists (AMT).
