The HollyFrontier Companies Process Projects Team Lead in Anacortes, Washington

Basic Function HF Sinclair Puget Sound Refining LLC is seeking a Process Projects Team Lead. This role is the single point of accountability for Process Engineering support to Projects at Puget Sound Refinery. This includes supervising a team of Process Projects Engineers and a Safeguarding Engineer to deliver the site business plan. Acting as a strong link between Process Engineering and the Projects organization is a vital part of this role. This role also is responsible for overseeing a team of lab chemists and product quality work process. Job Duties ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:(functions considered essential as defined by ADA) Own the site project front end queue (discretionary, energy, and required) and work with employees across the site to fill the queue with projects for the next 2-5 years Own or delegate ownership of DG0 committee meetings Assign front end development work to team members, manage resource loading with contractors as needed, and supervise lab Chemists responsible for critical product quality and audit accountability decisions/work Assist with Opportunity Framing Workshop (OFW) and train team to lead OFW sessions; challenge scope to ensure competitiveness Assist in identifying either internal or external additional technical support requirements for projects Provide assurance on team's work including review of deliverables Provide oversight, upward communication, and vision for site safeguarding work Act as process lead for a small portfolio of projects and serve as site opportunity focal point for most site-led projects Manage annual front end development and safeguarding budgets Key member of site Maximize Value Governance Team (MVGT) with input in site 5 and 10 year outlook Participate in annual capital planning process, providing input and timelines for advancing front end projects into capital spend Backfilling for other team leads with operational support efforts Participation in site abnormal situation management (ASM) team Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from timeto time in their sole and complete discretion. Experience A minimum of ten (10) years engineering experience in a refinery environment is required. Education Level A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering is required. Non-chemical engineers with appropriate specialized experience may be considered Required Skills Experienced in the process engineering of complex, multi-million dollar projects without close supervision Familiar with refinery processes including logistics and utilities Ability to mentor less experienced engineers Very strong written and verbal communication skills PREFERRED SKILLS: Previous supervisory experience Previous experience with large capital projects Previous Process Safety experience Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility Responsible for supervision of a team of approximately 5 people, also responsible for overseeing a variable number of outside contract engineers Work Conditions Office, and field based with up to 20% travel by land and air required. Petroleum refinery, warehouse/plant environment, out-of-doors environment and driver based environment including but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels tanks, rotating equipment, and working in confined spaces. Subject to all temperatures varying road and weather conditions.
