The Solid State Phased Array Radar System (SSPARS) Long Range Discrimination Radar (LRDR) Maintenance Lead is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the maintenance, integration, and support of radar systems and facilities at Clear SFS, AK. This role requires ensuring compliance with project requirements, conducting functional testing, and overseeing system operations. The LRDR Maintenance Lead will work closely with stakeholders to manage construction programs, support project execution, and provide technical expertise. This position reports directly to the Site Manager and will maintain regular communication with the Contracts Program Manager and client representatives, as required.
Responsibilities
Major Job Activities:
Coordinate SSPARS contractor support of facility / system integration efforts with the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) LRDR Prime and United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) for entire LRDR Construction package.
Support of facility systems integration Includes coordinating, scheduled and unscheduled.
Maintenance with affected parties performing functional testing and system operation as required.
Ensure all work complies with the requirements as set forth for the project.
Organize and implement construction programs that are assigned to this position.
Assist with the management, scheduling and execution of projects.
Assist with strategic planning, database support, training, drafting procedures, and budget submittals.
Prepare cost estimates and statements of work.
Evaluate contractor proposals.
Review documents for technical adequacy and assist with technical manuals.
Maintain ongoing and open two-way communication with Contracts Program Manager and client as main point of contact.
Provide technical expertise to assigned tasks / projects.
Conduct assigned technical work within budget and on schedule.
Conduct research, or other field work, as assigned.
Attend, participate, organize, and/or facilitate meetings as request by the base customer.
Perform other duties as required
Material & Equipment Directly Used:
US Space Force (USSF) classified and unclassified computer systems, diagnostic testing tools, maintenance laptops, hand tools for repair, multimeters, and oscilloscopes.
Working Environment:
Indoor and outdoor environments, including radar facilities and construction sites.
Frequent visits to different facility areas, including elevated platforms and confined spaces.
May work extended hours or weekends.
May be exposed to extreme cold when working outdoors and extended periods of darkness due to geographic location.
Physical Activities:
Lifting and carrying tools and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Walking, bending, and crouching to access and maintain radar systems.
Standing for long periods during maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
Climbing ladders or using step stools to access high equipment.
Qualifications
Education / Certifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. May be substituted for relevant work experience in Facility Management, integration experience or similar duties.
Must be a U.S. citizen and possess a DoD Top Secret security clearance or be eligible to obtain and maintain one.
Required Experience:
8-10 years of experience in a project integration role performing project, schedule, budget, and resource management tasks, with experience organizing and implementing construction programs for the DoD.
Skills &Technology Used:
Identifying and resolving problems as they emerge to minimize issues and costs (time, manpower, and funds) and ensure compliance with project requirements.
Ability to work independently, organizing and implementing construction programs, and managing numerous tasks concurrently.
Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills, with experience preparing cost estimates and statements of work, evaluating contractor quotes, reviewing documents for technical accuracy, and preparing technical manuals.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; Microsoft Project, and drafting programs.
Ability to work well with others, and mentor / train team members.
Flexibility to changing workloads.
Assisting with strategic planning.
Ability to quickly master DoD unique transportation logistics systems.
Supervisory / Budget Responsibilities:
May supervise subordinate workers performing radar operations, activities, and services.
